Lovely stay. September 5th-7th . Welcoming staff. Older hotel but everything works and great atmosphere not just as per dancing but in hotel in general. People reading books over a pint etc. Food excellent. Really enjoyed the stay. Cannot understand the reviews from earlier years. For an older hotel this place has everything you need either on a break like... More

Unfortunately we didn't stay at the highlands hotel but we did go there during our holiday for an evening meal, so my comments reflect only on that and not on the quality or otherwise of the establishment as a hotel. We visited the hotel on Thursday 20th August 2014 for, as I said an evening meal, and we had a... More

We were entertaining our daughter and her family and had booked a couple of days at this hotel to break up the stay at our home for everyone and it turned out to be a wise decision. This was our first visit to this part of Donegal and took a bit of a chance that everything would work out but... More

Stayed 2 nights in the Highlands this week. Booked it through Living Social so for what we paid it was ok. Was disappointed as reviews I had read portrayed a nicer hotel. There were damp spots visible. The window in our room had mildew on it. I love the old fashioned decor but there was an odd odour in the... More

We had friends visiting from Slovakia so wanted a traditional Irish experience for them and as it turned out there was a Living Social deal for 1 night with evening meal and breakfast... Perfect for 5 of us and we booked the Thursday night so as we could also experience the sessions traditional music in the lounge bar. When we... More

Family recommended the Highlands hotel for food. Staff were friendly and attentive. Menu was OK. Chose the homemade chicken curry. I think management should rethink the wording on the menu as this was not homemade. it was clearly a mass produced product supplied by catering firms or the like. Other meals ordered were nice but portion sizes were visibly controlled.... More

Got a great deal on this hotel through Groupon for an overnight stay and evening meal. The hotel itself is very old fashioned and could do with updating. Food was just ok. Staff were not really very friendly and I would not stay here again. More suited to older people.

We had a great two nights here, using it as a base touring around this area. It was our second bargain two night hotel break in Donegal, having travelled to here from Annagry and having spent three weeks in France shortly before we made it to Donegal. The hotel has limited wifi, which worked well around reception but we couldn't... More

t's by no means a 5 or 6 star resort in Dubai but I doubt you could find friendlier, more homely accommodation anywhere in the world. The family / staff are genuinely caring people, even after check out and when a coach load of tourists were filling the restaurant they took care of my wife and two rather demanding little... More
