First things first - this is not a formulaic modern hotel with a spa, huge rooms with an LCD TV covering one wall with 300 television & radio channels. This is a wonderful restaurant that happens to be located in a beautiful location with really nice rooms to relax after your meal. The staff are very friendly and seem to... More

I treat my husband every year for his birthday to a meal and overnight stay in Castlemurray and we went last weekend. Weather was glorious ,so beautiful views over the bay and a lovely walk after a delicious breakfast on Sunday. Food was amazing from start to finish and the house wine superb. Worth a visit for the cocktails alone... More

One of our favourite paces and "dog friendly", gorgeous views and a warm welcome. Wonderful food and a spirit bar that would tempt a Saint. Not cheap but we have never felt over-charged, so I would call that value for money. Our "go-to" place when we want to hide away for a few days.

If views, friendly staff, astounding location, feeling a part of the area you are visiting, views, the ability to have your animal with you and efficient administration of the details of checking in and checking out matter to you, and did I mention views, you would probably consider giving Castle Murray House a "5/Excellent" rating. If you tend to focus... More

We stayed here as a group of 10 for a birthday celebration. The location is perfect. You can't beat the view from the restaurant and lounge area over bruckless bay even in changeable weather. Perfect base for south Donegal, 20 to 30 mins drive to slieve league, ardara, Donegal town. The bedrooms are comfortable and again have super views though... More

11 miles outside of Donegal town, Castle Murray House is a terrific spot to stay as well as dine. Castle it is not.... but a two story building overlooking the sea and farmland that is as quiet a setting as one could ask for. The only sound we heard was of nearby cows in their pasture and a delivery lorry... More

Really nice place with the personal touch. Enjoyed the views, nice area for walking and great base to tour west Donegal. Food was really good especially the monkfish and prawn dish, service was also very good, would absolutely return again

Returned to Castle Murray after some years. Rooms have been renovated since our last visit, the food remains the highlight of the trip absolutely fantastic. Rooms however whilst updated remain distinctly average. They are tastefully decorated however both the rooms and the en-suite bathrooms are candidly too small. The beds are just too small, double beds are only just, resulting... More

Castle Murray is definitely one of my favourite hotels for a romantic break and this visit certainly didn't disappoint, no wonder it's ranked one of the fifty most romantic places in the world - a well deserved title. We settled in to the comfy sofas overlooking McSynnes Bay and ordered a couple of drinks whilst watching the glorious sunshine over... More

I called to this hotel on spec and because of the fantastic view out to sea. I needed a twin room and as there was none available, I needed to find somewhere else. The lady at reception went to great lengths to find me an alternative with a reassuring smile and calm search. A lovely place with lovely people. Hopefully... More
