I wanted to take my French friend who loves food to somewhere a little off the beaten track. I booked this house/ hotel /restaurant because the menu read very well and it was right on the sea. But oh dear my heart sank when I saw the place for real .... Just the most horrible building- a botch of architecture... More

We visited Castle Murray for a little break during the Christmas holidays, just to unwind and I can say without hesitation that Castle Murray let us feeling completely relaxed! The food is without doubt; superb! The menu offering is fantastic, such a varied choice to suit all tastes. Each course was delightfully surprising in terms of flavour and presentation. Breakfast... Superb food, all locally sourced. The fish is particularly good. A very warm welcome with old world charm. It never changes, which is a good thing! Rooms are small but more cosy than cramped. Should the prawns and monkfish ever come off the starter menu there will be a local revolt!!

But be advised the rooms are very small, rather dark and there is no elevator. We had planned on staying several nights but found it uncomfortable. We had been traveling a few weeks and had a significant amount of luggage.

As a local I'm always delighted to return and find Castle Murray's standards at the same level or higher than the previous time. The simplicity of the service is beguiling, the food is a little more sophisticated each time and the atmosphere is cozy and just at the correct level of informality. The fact that the standard is maintained and... More

I say our castle, as we are Murray's after all!!..We have stayed twice before and loved it so much we returned last weekend with our friends. We are always nervous recommending places to others, but I just knew I could relax knowing that our friends would be as overwhelmed by this little piece of heaven on earth. We arrived on... More

Then up to our room which was small cute but fine and a great wrap around terrace to enjoy the view. The standard in Castle Murray has always been good and consistent. We had a beautiful evening. The service was excellent and so professional. The food was absolutely beautiful especially the sea food. And we just loved the desert selection. We look forward to our next visit.
