We stayed in this hotel on two occasions in 2013, May and June. Plusses: Hotel has fabulous views from the seaview rooms where you can watch the fishing boats coming from the harbour nearby or count the rabbits darting around the green below the windows. The hotel is olde worlde but needs a fortune spent on it to update rooms,... More

Got a Groupon deal for this hotel and stayed in Ostan Gweedore at end of September for 2 nights. After reading reviews my partner and I were prepared and rightly so! The reception desk looks neat and professional, but that's were it ends unfortunately. People have commented about the American receptionist, she has a funny personality, so don't take the... More

I felt so let down after my visit to the hotel. I have a young daughter who was looking forward to a swim, and a wife who was eager to use the gym facilities. Unfortunately they were unable to use either as they were closed. It seemed that this hotel was already in mothball mode. The staff at reception and... More

We have just tried to spend a couple of nights at the hotel this weekend and had to shortened our trip as the hotel conditions were a complete disappointment. The reception and the stairs to the rooms are so dated and old it gives you the creeps at first glance. The room is dirty and smells mould and the beds... More

Stayed here last weekend. Got a great offer so shouldnt complain however I wouldn't go back . Believe the reviews the place is very run down and neglected and rooms are awful. It appears like it hasn't been redecorated in 20 years. View is nice but windows framing it are in a bad way. On a positive note the bar... More

A stunning view greets anyone who stays in a sea view room - hard to match anywhere else. But if looking for quality in your room then best avoided. Poor cleaniness - cigarette ash on window sill, dirty walls and carpets. Kept awake all night by partying guests! Execellent food in restaurant and very pleasant staff serving there. Receptionist pleasant... More

Ostan Gweedore or , more correctly, Ostan Gaoth Dobhair, is a hotel dating from the late sixties or early seventies when it surely would have been state of the art. Architecturally, from the exterior, it has all the good and bad points of that era which I need not go into. The bar and dining room overlook Macaire Clocar beach and... More

We enjoyed a nice weekend here last week. Pros: Large spacious rooms, gorgeous views, nice & warm, very clean, great location, lovely staff that made us feel welcome, comfortable bed, toiletries provided & AMAZING food if a little pricey. Cons: Yes the rooms are a little dated - we also had a little mould around the windows but nothing too... More

Firstly we did get a good price. Cannot fault that. The scenery is out of this world, the views from the hotel are majestic! Never seen anything like it. The hotel is dated and although we did not mind that cleanliness is important. The bed was clean, not comfortable but clean. The bathroom no ! Hairs and stuff . Remote... More

We stayed one night in September, the hotel is in desperate need of a complete refurbishment. The day we arrived it was raining both inside and outside the hotel. In the foyer there was a huge leak and it looked as if the ceiling was going to collapse, there was another leak outside our room, upstairs on the first floor.... More
