We stayed at The Lord Bagenal recently for a wedding and it was truly a remarkable experience. The hotel is located centrally on the edge of Leighlinbridge, combining a rural setting with quick easy access to the quaint village of Leighlinbridge. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and check in was fast. Our room exceeded our expectations. It really was... More

We booked the Waterfront Restaurant for a family meal and it was positively outstanding. The food was way above what I would have expected with each course holding its own. The standard of cooking was excellent and the portions were very generous. It was no surprise that there was not a free table in the place. All the food was... More

Stayed 2 nights over the New Year and it was very enjoyable. Rooms comfortable and very spacious. We ate in the bar on the first night of our stay and it was delicious and then we were attending a wedding on NYE and the food was fab. Nothing left on the plates at our table. Felt the staff could have... More

Old part of hotel could do with a complete revamp. I like old world but it's dirty, tired n even light fitting in restaurant is falling off roof. My feet were sticking to the floor of old part of hotel. Needs contract cleaners in. Sorry but it's such a pity cause new part is so nice modern n clean. Old... More

Stayed here last night for one night with friends for a catch-up. Really enjoyed our stay. Had really comfortable and spacious rooms (rooms 65 and 69). Lovely cosy bar. Had a really excellent dinner. Great atmosphere as there was a wedding, christening and a 40th. Very relaxing atmosphere. Lovely staff. Hotel location is lovely and beautiful terraces. Excellent value. Would... More

We stayed here last month for 2 nights for a family wedding. We had a massive family room (number 59) which was stunning. A four poster bed along with two singles and plenty of space with a large bathroom. The staff were lovely and the hotel was nice, clean and child friendly. We enjoyed a good pub meal in the... More

We celebrated a recent family birthday for about 70 people - a full sit down meal, James and Kay along with the rest of the team were amazing from start right through to finish. The choice of food on the menu was wonderful, the service was top class, accompanied by a fantastic wine list. James and his team could not... More

Can't rem how to spell it but the fillet was amazing and it was served with asparagus, spinach and some seasoning and was truly amazing food. We were celebrating a family birthday and the staff were wonderful with a surprise gesture for dessert. Some of the best food I've had recently and can't wait to visit again. Excellent in all... There are loads of hotels in carlow and kilkenny, with even more restaurants from michelin star to cafes but the Lord Bagenal Inn is the only one to offer the best food, amazing wine list, professional relaxed service and a fantastic riverside location which you can enjoy the super canal walks. The Bagenal is somewhat famous for its curries and... More

Third year our company asked where we wanted to stay for the ploughing championships and all six agreed with The Lord Bagenal Inn again. Having grown up in the area I have great memories of the Bagenal & all its wonderful staff; now living in Germany I relish the opportunity to visit and this is our third year to stay... More
