Stayed here for one night as myself and my mum fancied a night away having never been to Carlow we picked there as it was somewhere different and having found a cheap deal on the web we decided to go when we got down the hotel was amazing the rooms where fantastic and ever so clean the staff were amazing... I have been staying at this lovely hotel for over 20 years and each time it never fails to impress. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds are super comfortable. The food is excellent and the carvery luncheon is the best in the county. The bar is excellent and their is also a bar menu for late night snacks.... More

We stayed here for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. From Michael on reception who greeted us with a smile on our arrival on Sunday afternoon28th June to Auria (could be misspelt!) our evening waitress the staff were wonderful. Very helpful and friendly at all times. I have not seen such a good selection of fruits, breads and cheeses on... More

We are fairly regular customers to the Lord Bagenal as we love the food. But the attitude of the staff is worsening every time. Not a smile or a friendly face to be seen anywhere. A customer service training course would be a good idea. I don't think it matters how busy it gets you have to make your customers... More

Myself and a few friends go up to The Lord Bagenal Hotel every 3 to 4 weeks on a night out and go to the bar and have some bar food, the food is always excellent, service very good we always enjoy our night at the moment they are doing some renovations around that area which seem to be going... Can't say enough about this hotel, the location is super the hotel is really elegant and cosy with big deep couches nestled throughout. I had the Whole Black Sole which was amazing followed by chocolate Orange and tangerine cream #guiltypleasure. My partner had the prawn curry followed by bread & butter pudding which were both fantastic. The service was relaxed... More

Extremely disappointed with our experience on sunday last May 31st May. While we appreciate it was a very busy time for food we felt we should have been told that the wait would be a full hour. We had a young person with us and 9 pm was really too late to eat. The food when it arrived was good... More

OMG what can I say that's not in the title.. Boyfriend brought me here for a weekend break. The food was great, the service was relaxed and friendly and the location was great. Saturday night the staff seemed a little overwhelmed by a very large group whom seem to have took over the restaurant with lots of kids but after... More

first impression walking into hotel lovely... Went to find the dining room.. Walked past people, stepped over children, who were all eating along a corridor out from the bar area. Walked up and down twice and could not find the dining room, only this dirty dark bar, we walked backed to reception and asked where the restaurant was. Receptionist told... More

Stayed for 2 nights in one of the suites. The room was very spacious and clean with a very large bathroom with standalone bath. The room also had a safety deposit box, ironing board, hairdryer, and tea/coffee facilities. The food in the hotel was excellent but the bar is small and is located some way from the rooms and reception.... More
