Whoever the chef is in this restaurant he should be ashamed of himself. Had dinner in the bar recently, I had the crispy duck with orange and ho sin sauce, the duck had obviously cooked previously and was reheated, it was dry and overdone. The ho sin sauce was, without doubt, one of the cheapest supermarket products I've ever tasted... More

The sleepy village of Leighlinbridge is fantastic for pubs, walks and of course food, not what we were expecting at all. The Lord Bagenal Hotel is great, right on the riverbank, with lovely seating outside. The room was fabulous, fresh, airy, bathroom was spotless with a lovely big bath. And only 10 minutes away from Carlow with great shops. Would... More

Stayed here for a few nights as part of a coach tour. The outside of the hotel looks boxy and functional rather than attractive, so it was lovely to go inside to a modern, luxurious interior, with a spectacular "glass" spiral staircase. The lilies displayed everywhere were delightful, but a low fireplace display was in danger of spoiling clothing one... More

This is a beautiful hotel located right on the River Barrow, with its own marina and slip access to the river. The staff are friendly and obliging. We needed access to the slip for launching a boat and they were very accommodating. The rooms are very clean and well decorated, without the wear and tear you sometimes see in hotels.... More

I have been staying at this lovely hotel for over 20 years and each time it never fails to impress. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds are super comfortable. The food is excellent and the carvery luncheon is the best in the county. The bar is excellent and their is also a bar menu for late night snacks.... More

We stayed here for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. From Michael on reception who greeted us with a smile on our arrival on Sunday afternoon28th June to Auria (could be misspelt!) our evening waitress the staff were wonderful. Very helpful and friendly at all times. I have not seen such a good selection of fruits, breads and cheeses on... More
