My mom and I stayed here for three nights on a trip through Kentucky and Tennessee. I read about the hotel on a Design Sponge city guide and was not disappointed by the aesthetics...my favorite parts were the cool wooden nightstands and wooden bowls holding fruit throughout the hotel! Not to mention the very retro and rustic library bar. The... More

My wife and I stayed here in early April for my "staycation" birthday. We have often traveled downtown to the Market Square area eating at practically every eatery there. We said we were going to stay at The Oliver one day, and so we did! We stayed in a King Room overlooking Market Square for one night. What a wonderful... More

This was our first stay at this smaller hotel and we enjoyed it. The room was appointed nicely. The view of the roof wasn't much. The location is great, we parked and walked everywhere once we arrived.

I travel to Knoxville from time to time and without a doubt this is the place to stay. it is an old style hotel right in the downtown area not far from the convention center and Campus. The rooms are very comfortable and the amenities are really nice. Everyone there is very nice and great to deal with. The rooms... More

My niece suggested that I give this hotel a try while in town for Rhythm and Blooms Festival. My room on the second floor was very comfortable and had everything I needed for an enjoyable visit to Knoxville. The Oliver provided Gilchrist & Soames Body Wash, Shampoo and Conditioner in the shower like you find in some spa's. There is... More

The Staff, in particular AJ and Deano, went out of their way to ensure that our stay fantastic - very attentive to our needs, prompt, professional, friendly - they truly take care of their guests. The property is conveniently located adjacent to Market Square and within hiking distance of all of the major attractions. They have two pairs of very... More

We stayed at the Oliver for a second time in Knoxville for the Rythym & Blooms music festival. We were kindly upgraded to a king suite for our 4 night stay which provided a lot more room and comfort than our first stay in a queen room. The location on Market Square affords walking everywhere you need to be. The... More

We stayed here for the Big Ears Festival. It certainly was convenient and within walking distance to all of the venues (the Tennessee Theater, The Bijou Theater, etc.) The rooms were nice and the service was excellent. I'd stay here again... For sure.

We almost didn't stay here. I wanted a gym, and found nothing on the website for a gym. But they have free passes to the YMCA which is a great facility and 2 blocks away. This hotel is in the best block of Market Square, is adorable, very upscale with its interiors. Great little hidden "speakeasy" bar off the lobby.... More

Recently stayed at The Oliver Hotel during a business trip and plan on returning for a leisure trip. We liked the scale of the hotel and some nice touches like the speakeasy-type bar downstairs hidden behind a barn-style door. Tupelo Honey restaurant provides the room service (menu sounded great although we didn't have an opportunity to try it). FYI -... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Situated in the heart of Knoxville just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Market Square, The Oliver Hotel is an original expression of the city. Originally built in 1876 as the Peter Kern Bakery, the building had hosted everything from the Kern's candy counter and soda fountain to a drugstore, and dancing hall. In 2011, the property was renovated into what is now Knoxville's only boutique hotel with a style that plays tribute to the buildings history, while offering guests rooms with charm, sophistication, and modern amenities. The property is also well known for its Peter Kern Library Bar and the award winning Tupelo Honey Cafe Restaurant. ... more   less
