We arrived for a 2 night stay in the Penthouse suite after booking online through a travel website. Thank goodness we used a travel website. When we arrived, we were told that our itinerary would not be honored because the owner (Marty) wanted more money for the room, despite the fact that we had a hotel confirmation number. The travel... more

I haver never stayed in a more disgusting hotel or B&B. Filthy room, filthy bathroom, filthy toilet, dirty sheets, bed never made, breakfast food left in room all day and night,. This place is so bad I will be contacting the city board of health in the hope of seeing the place shut down. Jack T. Frederick, Md. more

It smells bad. It smells bad in the lobby, in the lift, and in the room. What, you may ask, sort of smell. I'm not sure - old cooking odor, sweat, dirt - who knows. I can't really describe it. We checked in (hoping that the room didn't smell like the lobby. Ha.), and then we checked right out. The... more

I had a very pleasant conversation with "Donny" who was very kind upon booking our stay. Unfortunately things were not as they seemed. Once we got there, Donny took very good care of us. But we got a bad vibe because for some reason he seemed really freaked out. Upon checkin, we got to talk to the "owner", Marty Funderlic.... more

I needed lodging while taking a 3 week graduate course. Based upon the website & emails with 1 individual, I made a 3 week reservation. I have stayed a B & Bs all over Europe. THIS IS NOT LIKE ONE OF THOSE. It is indescribably filthy, & there is no daily housekeeping of any sort. Soon after checking in, I... more

The host failed to tell us when we booked that the Inn would be undergoing construction during our visit. Instead of the Rose Room we had booked, we were placed in the partially-refinished parlor in which they had placed two beds with shoddy mattresses. We had to contend with sawing and drilling both days. The host was not around for... more

I can agree with the other reviewers in one sense but you have to question their experience in hotels and what they mean by "filthy". Maybe they live in a pig sty home and think this place is pristine, or they may be OCD types that has to Lysol everything. I have been in customer service for a number of... more

We had an unexpected lay-over in Knoxville. The airport suggested two places to stay and Maplehurst Inn won - actually, we won. Sonny was a perfectly delightful host for 3 days. We were welcomed into a beautiful air-conditioned room and offered great breakfast choices - everything from cereal or fruit to an egg casserole. Sonny was a wealth of information... more
