Beautiful property. The rooms and bathrooms were over sized. Bedding and rooms were comfortable. The restaurant in the hotel was reasonably priced for breakfast, which was surprising. And, the food was great. I'd definitely stay here again.

I have always wanted to stay at the Carnegie Hotel. I fell in love with the place when I did some consulting work in the area about 15 years ago. I've been back to the area to visit several times but usually during Story Telling Festival Weekend and could not stay at the Carnegie due to budget restrictions. But we... More

This very elegant hotel is located in Johnson City which was not far from where we were working in Washington County. If given the opportunity, our preference is to stay at this hotel. There happened to be a co-worker that had never stayed there and he was impressed with the surroundings as well. However, he was very disappointed that the... More

Best place to stay in the Johnson City area. Thick towels and comfortable bed. Friendly staff and convenient location. The restaurant was closed on Sunday but the front desk offered great recommendations.

This is a fantastic hotel and the staff is exceptional. I was in a jam last visit when my main dress pants decided to lose the main button to keep them on! Christian Lowery at the front desk saved me with his sewing abilities! We even coined a new phrase, instead of seamstress we came up with seamster. Christian has... More

We arrived after a long day's drive through the Virginia countryside and were welcomed warmly by the Front desk and given a large and comfortable room. The decor and facilities in the hotel were delightfully genuine in their period style (an oasis in the modern-day world outside). The live jazz in the bar was a real treat and well supported... More

Negatives Had a bit of a rough start with no one at the check in desk, 2 people walked behind the desk and on their way out said that someone would be with us soon. Check in clerk was pleasant & informative, but when we got to the room, we got the red light---keys weren't working/properly activated. Went back downstairs... More

We stayed here in December 2012 and found the place to be very charming. The holiday decorations were tasteful and added a charming lustre to the place. The room itself was very clean and comfortable, and elegantly appointed.

Spacious and clean but if you just want a good night's sleep, I wouldn't count on it. I expect the best for $200 a night, and the sandpaper sheets and old springy bed were as uncomfortable as I've ever experienced in a hotel claiming to be 4 diamond hotel. Time to spend some of that money on new linens and... More
