This hotel is one of the finist we have ever used. luxerous is not adequate to define the old charm atmosphere and furnishings. The staff is super and treats you like a VIP and does so with pride, they really seem to love their job. The rooms are hugh, well furnished, clean, smell a lot like home. The setting is... More

This hotel has a lot going for itl, but the shabby edges undercut it's appeal. My king-size room (#421) was spacious and the bathroom was HUGE. Loved the period furniture and flavor, but the place is very shabby. It needs a good scrubbing and some furniture polish to honor the look the hotel is going for. It could be as... More

This is a great hotel which looks like an old hotel but is not. The front desk staff is great - we arrived about 1:00 and they were able to immediately give us a room. Our room had beautiful old furniture and the beds were comfortable. We had a spacious bath with a tub and a shower and double sinks.... More

My wife and I stayed at he Carnegie last weekend. We loved the vintage look of the hotel. Styled to appear like a hotel in the early 1900's it's a classic look. All the pieces in the main areas are antique though for obvious reasons the pieces in the rooms are reproductions. The staff were very kind and helpful. We... More

Wonderful staff, very accommodating. The on site Austin Springs Spa is a jewel and worth the stay. The restaurant, Wellington, has an excellent bar tender and great southern fare. The Carnegie exemplifies Southern Hospitality in all areas. This could be a five star property if they got rid of the sad, trite decor. And had an ice machine on every... More

Step back in time at the Carnegie! Our room was delightful and the bed was very comfortable. The bath was large and bright with a very roomy shower. We have stayed several nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is not for the frugal, but not over priced and was worth it. A very relaxing and romantic stay. Check it out... More

The website makes you believe it is a luxurious, classic hotel and spa, it is simply run down, all furniture is beat up, wax build up and banged up wood make it look like a flea market, House keeping apparently could not understand what the do not disturb sign meant, toiletries were not always replaced, the in house restaurant food... As others have said, I was so surprised to find such a beautiful hotel at such an affordable price. I've never been to the south but this reminded me of what I think of as old southern grandeur. The lobby was elegantly appointed with antiques gathered from around the world by the gentleman who resurrected "The Carnegie." The elevators have... More

We were pleasantly pleased to find such a wonderful/charming hotel for an affordable price! The lobby area was furnished with antique furniture and had a welcoming atmosphere. Staff members were very professional and helpful. Sleeping rooms and bathrooms were very spacious and clean. Enjoyed eating at Wellington's, the in-house restaurant/bar.

This is what hotels were meant to be. Open, spacious rooms with desk and sitting area. Spacious bath with stand alone shower. Starbucks coffee in the room. Everything is done right here. Highly recommended for a visit to this area.
