Let's mark another wonderful weekend of camping at Black Bear Resort! Great hosts that provide their guests with a very clean, safe place to kick back and enjoy the beauty of the mountains mean so very much and Mary and Bob are the best! Friends that came up to visit with us even saw a black bear on their way... More

We stopped by the Black Bear Resort on a recent trip to Elizabethton. The resort looks delightful. Beautiful spot by the creek. We were pleasantly surprised by the different accommodations, from cottage to bunkhouse to campsites to conference center. Trees were just turning. Looked like a wonderful spot to "rough it"

Black Bear Resort near Elizabethton / Roan Mountain, Tennessee ...A review. We just got back from spending two nights with our 512 kids at the Black Bear Resort in Hampton, Tennessee (near Roan Mountain). We had fun, and I would absolutely recommend it with the following clarifications: (My positive comments are near the end) What Black Bear Resort IS NOT:... More

Originally, I planned to make the hike to Watauga Dam shelter. However, after stopping at the Black Bear Resort for lunch, I decided to spend the night at their bunkhouse. Clean, friendly, and scenic place.... all for a great value! I certainly hope that I will be back!

This was a spur of the moment trip and a lucky find. The road there can be scary, and you'll think that you'll never get there but you will and it's worth it. The place and people there are so cool. The resort is close the Laurel Falls a 1.3 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail that leads to a... More

What a gem! When my husband booked a cabin, I was really expecting something more rustic. But these cabins are clean, cozy, and comfortable, with nice bunk beds (mattresses covered in plastic, so a little noisy), a table and stools, and a ceiling fan. There are electrical outlets in the cabins if you need to charge your phone, though we... More

Black Bear Resort is a little gem tucked away under the sprawling trees of Dennis Cove and Laurel Fork creek, a weekly stocked trout stream that runs right through the property. Located just a few miles outside of Hampton, TN and 19E it beckons as a rustic getaway with a country charm and ambience that is perfectly suited to those... More

We stayed at the Black Bear Resort when we went to TN to visit our daughter who was working for ASP this summer. The resort is located on a mountain 1/2 mile from the Appalachian Trail. We stayed for two nights in Creekside; a cute, clean one bedroom cabin next to a babbling brook. The owners were very friendly and... More

BBR is a very nice small resort in the TN mountains. We were hiking The AT south and all northbounders we passed suggested it. My son hurt his foot so we called at our next road crossing. Bob picked us up and got us to the resort. It is a small, clean place quite a ways out of Hampton. Fishing... More

I was attempting a through hike of the Appalachian Trail and had some knee problems. Stopped at Black Bear Resort to rest the knee for a few days. After resting the knee I got them to shuttle me 13 miles up the trail so that I could hike back to Black Bear and test the knee. That went well so... More
