The Cosby entrance to the park avoids the crowds and traffic that plague other more popular park attractions but is a beautiful place spring, summer, and fall. It is an ideal place to camp ( well developed campground), and hike with a variety of easy to moderate hikes. It is an ideal base camp to explore the backcountry and the... More

Really beautiful campground. Lots of space and choice of sites. I would not recommend buying wood at the stores around the campground: they're quite expensive and there is definitely enough wood in the campground to provide campers with sufficient firewood. Bring a hatchet and you'll be good to go. Very helpful park hosts and really nice hikes. Would stay again.

This was such a great find! We decided on the spur of the moment to go camping. We were able to easily book a campsite online. At one point I had to call the call center for help with my booking and the customer service reps were great to work with. We were able to take our dog, the campsite... More

This is just the most amazing campground there is! Now warning to everyone who wants to go camping with their hairdryers, and make-up and extras (this isn't for you). If you like to tent camp, walk up throw on a sweatshirt, and sit by the fire and drink hot chocolate, then this is for you! It's a precious little campground,... More

The campsites are clean and shady, The tent-pad is level and flat. The restrooms are in good working order and clean. The campground was fairly quiet. It was not crowded at the time we visited. There is access to many hiking trails into some of the most beautiful parts of the Great Smokey National Park here. Self check-in worked well... More

We spend 3 days at a group site in Cosby campground, the the tent sites and picnic table sites were perfect. The restrooms were immaculate and cleaned every day. Rangers were very helpful and informative. Can't wait to go back!!

We didn't actually camp here. We drove to it early one morning as a day trip from our vacation cabin to hike and picnic. It was a lovely drive, and we say about 20 wild turkeys on our drive in. The campground is beautiful. There is lots of water that the kids threw rocks in, looked for critters and just enjoyed... More

This is a great campground for tent camping. Unlike many of the other campgrounds in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, most of the sites here are tent-only, so there are not dozens of RVs, and traffic is light. We came on Friday afternoon of Labor Day weekend and 90% of the spots were available - we were able to take... More

Cosby Campground is easily our favorite place to car tent camp! It's clean, usually quiet, most campsites are private and it's almost never full even in the summer. There is great hiking and trail running available and multiple places to jump in the creek for a refreshing swim/bath. We have always had good luck at getting a private campsite that... More

Stayed at this campground twice, once just before its season ended (obviously it was quiet) and then this June(2013). We were prepared for it to be very busy, but it was nice and quiet again. There had been a tornado and Loop B was completely closed. We arrived on a Saturday, and by Sunday afternoon through Wednesday there will only... More
