Built as elegant hotel in 1909, The Stone Fort still offers the elegance and charm of the OLD SOUTH. It is located near the center of downtown; and offers comfortable walking distance to a number of excellent restaurants. But, no need to leave THE STONE FORT as they offer wonderful bar, wine tasting, and dinners on the main floor of... More

I was back in Chattanooga on business. This was the second time that I've stayed at the Stone Fort Inn. It's still the best deal going. As someone who travels regularly for work, it's refreshing to be able to stay in a lovely hotel that does not look like all the other ones I've stayed in. The room was comfortable... More

We normally stay at chain hotels but took a chance on the StoneFort at the last minute because of a weekday promotion. It was fantastic. Sure, the Inn is a bit old, but that's what adds to the charm, because it has all the modern conveniences and a great staff to boot. I cannot figure out for the life of... More

Located on a busy 10th Street in downtown Chattanooga, the nearest parking was a half-block away on the other side of a large building. Of course, it rained while we visited, so the walk to the hotel was wet. Noisy is an understatement - so much so that instead of chocolate mints, the hotel leaves ear plugs on your pillow... More

We came here on a weekend and had heard and read good things about this Inn. Nothing however prepared us for what we encountered. The hospitality experience was exceptional in terms of the desk personnel who assisted us in every aspect of our stay with particular kudos to Dee and James for pointing us in the right directions. The restaurant... More

Four poster bed, wood floors, brick walls... The Stone Fort Inn looks great. Large room with antique furniture. Bed was too soft for us and my wife was awoken by the floors creaking as people walked by. My wife did not like the walk through the alley to the parking lot. She thought it was 'creepy'. Overall, I feel that... More

We loved the web page and read the reviews. We were very excited when we arrived but soon found that the pictures and reviews must have been written at an earlier time or written by staff wanting good press. The building is over a hundred years old and is showing some wear since being renovated. There is a strange musty... More

A direct response from the owner Mark: Thank you for your brutal assessment of your recent stay. I can honestly say, this is the worst review we have received in my 3.5 year history of owning the Inn. And I am taking the unusual step of writing this response personally, as the owner of the StoneFort Inn and TerraMae. Thankfully... More

The building and rooms are absolutely beautiful! It's old but rooms are large. Beds are comfortable. It is loud and creaky, but I guess that's expected in an old wooden building. Ear plugs and a noise maker for night were provided. Location is a little far from downtown Chattanooga activities. Staff was unhelpful. I had to email multiple times before... More

Thank you for the feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the food at Terra Mae. We regret that you were less than fully satisfied during your stay. Since your visit, we have addressed the issue and have made management changes to insure that our packages are pre-prepared and that the staff is 100% re-focused on guest satisfaction. We are dedicating... More

My wife and had a great stay at the Stone Fort Inn. Our room was was enormous, and we were tempted to lounge all day in the room, but were fortunate to head downstairs to enjoy a great dinner at Terramae. The front desk was responsive to all our requests, and the breakfast the next morning was exceptional (including the... More

The inn is right downtown and is less than a block from the free Nightfall (Friday night) summer concert series. The room was nicely furnished and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful and excellent. We would definitely stay again, and recommend getting a room with a balcony because the hot tub was fantastic.
