My wife & I stayed at the Iron Mountain Inn during my section-hike of the Appalachian trail through TN and NC. AT hikers talk about the beauty of ME and NH but in my opinion the views there would have to be pretty spectacular to rival the scenery around Vikki's Iron Mountain Inn. Our several nights in the Creekside Chalet... More

We had the good fortune of staying at Iron Mountain for 1 week and let me just say it's as close to Heaven as you can get! The views are magnificent and with Vikki owning all 140 acres...it's really peaceful. We stayed in the Appalachian Spring room that had a balcony that overlooked the spring fed creek in the back... My husband and I received a two night stay from our daughter and husband, otherwise we may not have found our way to this beautiful location. Vikky is an amazing host, knowledgeable, friendly, and a very good cook. :) The setting is relaxing and quiet, the mountains all around are majestic (we hiked the short trail 2mi.). We highly recommend,... More

My husband and I stopped here for a night when driving from NC back to MD. I wish we could have stayed longer! It was late in the evening and the weather was taking a turn for the worse when we arrived, but the Inn was warm and welcoming - and Vikki immediately called a couple of local restaurants to... More

This was our first time to stay at a B&B. Our kids gave us this as a 35th anniversary gift. We enjoyed the snow and the beauty of a February trip. The views were great and the hospitality couldn't have been better. We enjoyed the meals and the food was awesome. Vicki couldn't have been nicer and was willing to... More

My wife and I stayed here over the holidays for a couple nights to get away and do a little hiking. We loved the property and the owner Vikki. The night we drove in snow was coming down and by the next morning had covered the ground and the trail we were going to hike up. As for the hiking,... More

This was a perfect getaway from everyday stresses of life. The views of the mountains were breathtaking. The breakfasts were delicious. Vikki was an excellent host and so informative of places to eat, where to go, etc. Do try the Thai place, Monsoon, I heard excellent reviews and was upset I wasn't able to try it, but other guests raved... My wife and I ventured into the Tennessee Mountains without knowing anything of where we were going or what we were going to do. We stumbled upon this Bed and Breakfast. The scenery was breathtaking and property terrific; we walked each day on it's own wildlife packed trail, and the inclines helped to burn off the delicious multi-course sit down... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Summer heat has given way to summer rains. But no matter, plenty of hours for hiking, swimming, boating, biking or exploring these beautiful mountains. When you visit the Iron Mountain Inn B&B, there are not enough hours in a day or a week to accomplish everything there is to do in Johnson County and surrounding states. After all, we are snuggled between Boone, NC and Damascus/Abingdon, VA. We like to say, "we are 45 minutes from everything", and plenty to do right on the 140 acres surrounding the Inn.Watauga Lake is just down the road for fishing, swimming, and boating.Virginia Creeper Trail is just over the mountain for downward biking. But many guests enjoy just relaxing on our open decks in the rocking chairs while we offer them our "Pampering Perfected" service. Cold drinks and snacks including the famous Iron Mountain Inn B&B chocolate chip cookies.Come, share the magic of the mountains. ... more   less
