I stayed at the Borrowdale Gates hotel last week with my elderly mother for 4 nights, and found the service, food and level of comfort and facilities to be excellent. The menus for dinner offered plenty of choice over 4 evenings, and all the dishes were delicious. Thank you to all the very friendly and considerate staff. The views from... More

I booked the Borrowdale Gates hotel for our anniversary weekend. I wanted something special to celebrate the 35 years I have spent with the woman who won my heart the very first time I set eyes on her. I wanted to surprise her with a romantic weekend away that she would recall with fondness and love, so of course I... More

We spent 6 nights at this hotel, 3 of which were on our own, and 3 with the English Lakeside Ramblers. Our stay was more than expected, once we changed rooms. The food and service were excellent. While we did not have a car to get around, we found the bus service adequate. There were a number of good walks... More

Excellent location for easy access to hiking trails. We walked outside the lobby and onto a trail. Service was excellent, staff very accommodating. The staff arranged to pick up some items we left at another hotel which saved us a 4 hour round trip. Delicious food. Complimentary tea & coffee in the lounge. Beautiful views from dining room and bar.... More

My aunt, cousin and I made a last minute booking and were lucky enough to get accommodation in adjacent rooms on the ground floor overlooking the glorious gardens and amazing views. This section of Borrowdale has absolutely stunning scenery. We were very impressed with the immaculate presentation of our rooms and the public areas. We dined in the Hotel on... More

My husband and I enjoyed another superb stay which we had postponed from April and were not disappointed. The staff and service were all you could wish for and the dining was an amazing experience and well deserves the four star rating. The location is perfect and we left feeling relaxed and hope to return next year Joy and Peter... More

30 years since we last stayed here. We won't be leaving it another 30 before we stay again. The location of the hotel is fabulous with a number of easy & enjoyable walks nearby. So quiet & tranquil! In truth we found the hotel a little old fashioned, but that wasn't a bad thing. The service was from a bye... More

Lovely hotel with views to die for. Perfect for exploring the Lake District, especially the wonderful Borrowdale. Hotel seems to cater well for everyone from the hardened fell walkers, families and the more sedate visitors. Close to Derwentwater, my favourite of the "lakes". We stayed in "Fairy Glen" - a huge, very pleasant room with double aspect windows looking out... More
