We only had a night at the Hisega Lodge, but I wish we could have stayed a week. The lodge is nestled in the Black Hills, while still being relatively close to a lot of dining options in Rapid City. The Hisega Lodge has a certain authentic charm that most places lack these days. The Trout Room was neat because... More

I was wowed from the time we drove onto the property. Carol Duncan met us in the parking area with a welcoming smile. She gave us a tour of the property and our room. We were there in October, 2014 for 6 nights staying in the Trout room and though a little small is tastefully decorated, has a very comfortable... More

My husband and I stayed three nights at the lovely Hisega Lodge while we explored Deadwood, Sturgis, Mt. Rushmore, Custer and Rapid City. We couldn't have asked for a better experience in the Black Hills! Carol and Kenn are both so helpful and accommodating. I have severe food allergies to eggs and nuts, but Carol whipped up amazing breakfasts without... More

We had planned to stay at the Hisega Lodge for 4 nights at ended up extending for 2 more nights even though it meant that we had to move rooms. Carol and Kenn Duncan do a really wonderful job at making the Lodge a unique and wonderful place to stay. The lodge has character and is well preserved and really... More

Hisega Lodge is something very special. The hosts are most gracious and the food.....we have never had B&B dining this great. From our interest in staying there until we said our goodbyes the service was the best.

Absolute relaxation is what you will find when you drive just a few minutes off #44 highway, along a narrow winding country road. Leave your windows open at night and let in the fresh country air along with the soothing sound of the rushing creek which is located right across the road from Hisega Lodge. From the moment we arrived... More

A beautiful setting in the middle of the black hills. Carol and Kenn made you feel welcomed in their home. Carol is such a good cook we suggested she write a cookbook to share with her guests. They book their rooms fast so if you are thinking about being in the area this place is where you want to stay!

This is a wonderful place if you like peace and quiet. The food was exceptional. The lodge is historic and the décor quite rustic, but everything was neat and clean, not old or run-down. If you want a hotel that you can rush in and out of, with a speedy breakfast buffet of stale pastries on-the-go, restaurants and shopping nearby,... More

Your drive in begins with beauty, even considering the natural awe experienced in the Blackhills earlier in the day. Carol's greeting was charming and she recommended an evening walk along the creek to an old bridge. We enjoyed our wine & cheese overlooking the rushing creek and spotting the many "faces" in the rocks as the sunset cast it's shadows.... More

I can't recommend Hisega Lodge highly enough. Carol is an exceptional hostess. She encourages her guests to meet one another over her home cooked breakfasts. She was happy to cater for my vegetarian diet, and did so with flair. She was also helpful in providing us with instructions for finding the Lodge after dark. The Lodge feels tucked away in... More
