We stayed for a week and checked out on the 5th of July. Our stay at The Lazy U was the best hotel/motel experience we've had in all of our travels. The owners were excellent host. Very helpful as to area attractions and advice. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Pet friendly rooms meant that our dogs were as... More

Verlyn liked the "stepped back in time" description. It lets people know we are not a boutique motel with all the fancy add ons. We try to offer a clean comfortable room at a reasonable price. Thanks for the review. More

We stayed here four nights on our motorcycle cross country trip and it was a fantastic place. We love the mom and pop places especially since they are fading out with all the chain places out there now. Fresh coffee and donuts each morning, very clean rooms with refrigerator and microwave. Parking right at your door and very biker friendly.... More

We are glad you liked your stay. This little motel is great for motorcycles because you can park right in front of your door. Hope we see you again. More

Our party of five stayed at the Lazy U Motel for three nights in late July of 2014. The purpose of our trip was to visit the Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, Custer Park and Sturgis, prior to the Motorcycle Rally crowds arriving. The Lazy U provided our group with great lodging and a central location. Verlyn and Cindy run a... More

Hey Scott, thanks for your review. You are not the first person to leave a personal item in the rooms. Our housekeeping staff is great at letting us know right away so we can try to call before you leave town. Your group was a pleasure to work with, hope to see you again next year. More

We stayed at Lazy U Motel for three nights in late July. The check in experience was quite easy and the staff was fantastic. Receptionist provided very needed maps and recommendation of the area restaurants. The hotel is very friendly to motorcycle riders and also provided an area we could clean our bikes. The room was very clean and the... More

Thanks for your review, especially regarding the colored linens. We took the idea from another mom and pop a few years past. We didn't like putting stained towels in the rooms, nor did we like tossing a perfectly good towel just because of a blemish. As for the shampoo, we do keep some in the office if someone does not... We really enjoyed our stay at the Lazy U Motel. From the time I booked our stay, I was looking forward to staying there. Cindy had lots of helpful tips on the phone, and Verlyn helped us plan our days each morning when we were there. The coffee and donuts in the morning are a great start to the day.... More

Thanks for the kind words, but sorry about the neighbors. One of the reasons Verlyn and I live at the motel was to be able to address these very issues, in person, as they happen. This won't help you for your last stay, but for future visits, please call us. We very politely tell them to shhh :) They don't... More

The Lazy U is like the top quality motels of the late 1950s & the 60s. It is very clean, comfy, and well maintained. The old motels had kitchenettes, this is close with a table, chairs, frig & microwave. The lawn chairs outside each room are nice for evening and morning fresh air. There is a nice historic neighborhood nearby... More

We stayed here on our cross country trip. This is an old-fashioned, family-run one-story motel. We parked directly in front of our room. The room was small and clean; there was a desk and a fridge. The bathroom was perfectly fine and the shower great. In the morning there were donuts and coffee in the reception area. Free WiFi. The... More

This is an older family run motel which I tried based on reviews on here and I was happy with my choice. Although the front of the motel (the office) is on a main road, the rest of the motel is set back and behind other buildings facing the road, so noise is NOT a problem. The room was clean... More

We simply needed somewhere to sleep at a reasonable price, but it had to be CLEAN! We found it here! If you are looking for modern furnishings, swimming pool, multiple device outlets, coffee pot in the room, fitness center.... This is NOT for you! The furnishings are dated, rooms fairly small. But, the beds are queen sized and very comfortable,... More

We stayed here and are so glad we did. The room was large and had a good size bar fridge. The owners were friendly and very customer oriented. The donuts were amazing! Some other reviews mentioned the small bathroom however this wasn't an issue for us. If it is an issue due to vanity space, there was a desk in... More

Some of our rooms were built in 1957. The rooms are more spacious, with tall ceilings, but some of the bathrooms have the sink in the bathroom. We have other rooms built in 1985 that have the outside vanity. This was the room you stayed in. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for staying with us. More
