This is a cozy little place with only a handful of rooms. Everything was clean and well kept but you can tell it is a very old building. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. When we head back to the area, we will be staying there again. Warning: there are several steps to go from the parking lot to... More

We like local rather than chains where possible, and we like quirky. We got that and more with this charming small town hotel in the heart of the Black Hills. Located in a former church, the rooms are small but have very high ceilings, giving the perception of space if not the actual square footage. Beds were very comfortable. There is... More

Very nice little place on main street Lead, close to the hustle and bustle of Deadwood. Very quiet and wonderful hosts. Nice area to relax, play pool, or read and good breakfast. Room was small, bathroom very small, but that is what you get in a building converted from a church. Minor issues like a noisy ceiling fan and very... More

As the main Street is partly closed for reconstruction you approach from the rear, not pretty. But once you get inside and meet the two ladies that seem to run the hotel, it is first class. Our room ' 6' was a little small with a very high ceiling. No problems, our two nights were very enjoyable, a large residents... More

Cute little place. Staff very nice, have never seen such a nice spread for a continental breakfast before! Rooms are small,no phones or ice, which is to be expected in a place like this. Room #5 is right next to the stairs, don't stay there if you are a light sleeper!

This is a hotel that was converted from a former church. We stayed in a small room with a queen bed and 4 stairs up to the bathroom. We were actually "walked" to our room by staff and it was explained that the 4 stairs to the bathroom was actually a "reading room" in the former church. Our whole stay... More

This was our first stay in Lead and I would definitely stay at the Dakota Spur in the future. The hosts were so personable, nice to visit with, and helpful with suggestions. They made us feel at home. I loved the outside deck and tables upstairs and the lounge area with the pool table downstairs, we enjoyed these sitting areas... More

Western decor made this hotel a wonderful place to come home to after visiting the many sites in the area. My daughter and her boyfriend got engaged on the 4th of July. Nancy, the hotel manager brought them champagne and glasses to celebrate. We felt like we were important to the hotel. We also liked being so close to Deadwood... More

We really enjoyed our visit at the Dakota Spur, which felt more like a B&B. The they were very friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, the architecture was interesting, rooms were clean. The breakfast was pastries, cereal or yogurt. The coffee was delicious (my only complaint was that there was no unflavored creamer). I recommend this... More
