What a pleasant surprise - not that far away as the crow flies from Deadwood and all of its 'excitement' , but worlds away from the noise and hectic atmosphere. Beautifully situated in the heart of Spearfish Canyon, the main lodge building is all wooden beams, stone fireplace and friendly service. The staff at the front desk was incredibly helpful... more

We stayed for our second time at Spearfish Canyon Lodge on 5/16 /07. Four years prior, we had stayed for 2 evenings. In addition to very comfortable beds , the Lodge boasts a more than adequate restaurant. The circular main Lodge Room features a massive stone fireplace. Spent two very enjoyable days here in September, and wished we could have stayed longer. The Lodge is in a beautiful setting. Rooms were good, and the staff very friendly. The Latchstring restaurant had a very good dinner menu, and also opens for breakfast. The Lodge is a fair distance from Spearfish so allow 20 minutes plus if you are... more
