We stayed at the Spearfish Lodge in May after a day at Mt. Rushmore. Yes, it is a bit "motely", but the location is extraordinary. The views and the hikes in the area unparalleled. At a price of $85 for 2 very comfortable queen beds we thought our room was a steal. Negatives- checkin excrutiatingly slow and it took forever... more

This is about the only hotel left in the canyon. It has a beautiful lobby, and the restaurant is across the street (average food). The room was very pricey for winter rates, and the room was clean but nothing spectacular for the price -- you are paying for the beautiful views. The early hallway yelling noise of the cleaning crew... more

This place is in a great location and very comfortable. We were with a large group, and check-in was managed very efficiently. Food was very good--the only thing to be aware of is you have to walk to another building across the road to get to the dining room. Some nice after-dinner walks in the area. The hike to the... more

The staff at the Hotel was great, however the management was atrocious. There was no hot water and the woman who 'ran' the place told me we would just have to deal with it. We then went to the hotel restaurant where our meal of fish was terrible. This same woman, who turned out to be the general manager, told... more

We spent four nights at Spearfish Canyon Lodge. I had read many reviews and thought it was worth the stay. Honestly, we should have moved after the first night. Our room was fine, but that is about all I can say. There is NO elevator which means you have to schlep everything upstairs if your room is on the second... more

This is a nice hotel with beautiful scenery! We had a regular room with two beds. The rooms were kind of small. The beds and linens were very comfortable. It is very quiet and relaxing. We have a 3 1/2 year old boy and there wasn't much for him to do . There is no pool but they have 2... more

Just returned from a 2 week stay in the Black Hills and Badlands. Moved around to 5 different hotels in the area. Decided to stay at this hotel because of a post from a previous traveler. I did not want to stay in Deadwood and this sounded the best for Lead. I did not realize that it is way out... more

We arrived and stayed in the lodge during two days of heavy rain and flooding. This lodge is an average imitation of the historic Black Hills lodges, yet has neither the style nor the character of the classic lodges. It is more like a chain hotel layout attached to a common room/entry hall/lounge with the looks of a lodge. The... more

We own BlackWing Blasting and were hired by South Dakota DOT to do some blasting in Spearfish Canyon. When we went up to look at the job we drove by Spearfish Canyon Lodge and stopped for breakfast and went in to the lodge "just to see". It was Beautiful and we spoke with Linda (the manager) and she set everything... more
