We stopped in here for a late lunch, after climbing Harney Peak, and I was starving. They sat us for lunch even though they were just closing (before they reopen for supper). The restaurant is in a lovely historic home with a old world charm. I ventured out of my comfort zone and ordered entirely off the German menu and... More

I agree with the reviews talking about how neat the rooms are. Charming, romantic, Victorian are all words that come to mind. We could peek into each of the rooms. There are 4 - #3, #6, #9 & #12. The first three had queen bed with a sitting area. We had room #3. There is a private bath across the... More

I'm writing a review of the Room we stayed in at the Alpine Inn. I will write a review about the restaurant on the restaurant site. When I called to make reservations all rooms were available so I asked the lady to choose for me. She liked room 9 the best, so I said ok. All she needed was my... More

Had an awesome vacation with friends that finished at Mt Rushmore. We stayed at the quant town of Hill City! After an enjoyable train ride on the 1880 train through the Black Hills we enjoyed a great lunch at the Alpine Inn. The food was great. It was so enjoyable we returned for dinner! A very interesting menu with Filet... More

We manage to get to the Black Hills every couple years or so and always eat at the Alpine Inn once on every trip. Love the tiny menu and the best "salad" around. I also enjoy a German beer or two. Make sure you save room for dessert. They don't take credit cards but don't freak out about it.

Me and my family went there and you got a stake and a wedge salad! It doesn't sound like much but it was the best salad I've ever had! We stayed in South Dakota for a week and ate there 2 times. There was a small wait but that what you get for that good of food!!!!

My wife and I stopped at the Alpine Inn for lunch during a fishing trip May 16-18 in the Black Hills. We were ushered to a table rather quickly...quickly taken through various dining sections. We were seated and made our selections. I then made my way to the rest rooms. Upon returning from the rest room, I noticed a very... More

Our family loves eating at this restaurant in Hill City! We plan our trip around eating there at least twice! Food is delicious, the European feel is wonderful, the staff is first class and always polite and friendly. We have also stayed at their homey hotel on the same property. Nice ambience.

Our family unfortunately chose to visit the sites of South Dakota's Blackhills during the Sturgis Rally. It was neat to see all the bikes but hotels within a 60 mile radius were inflated by hundreds of dollars. We luckily found the Inn that had rooms for our family. The dining in downstairs was delicious. The rooms were amazing and not... More

Yes it does take awhile for the food to come out, but worth the wait. Sandwich came with potato salad or fruit. Desserts were wonderful and enough for 2 people. ($5.50/$6.00) Loved all the shops in town. The chicken and dumpling soup was not good at all, very tiny dumplings. Looked like it was what you would get out of... More
