Let's be clear - by 8pm and until about 7am, the main highway is pretty quiet. However, the cabins are literally about 75 feet from the highway with trucks downshifting to make it into Hill City. It's not the "rustic cabin in the woods" environment you'd expect. It's loud at times - so loud that you had to shout at... More

Our week long stay at Pine Rest was fantastic. My parents, myself, my husband and our 2 kids stayed in cabin 5, which had plenty of room and privacy for everyone. We cooked several tasty meals and grilled out on the high - quality grill. The playground was right next door, so even in lulls between visiting the many parks,... More

It is so nice to see families traveling together, and good old Historic Cabin #5 is great for a multi -generation family vacation - so glad you enjoyed it. It is true that life's simple pleasures are the best. You must have made it to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind or Jewel Cave and Custer State Park.....it's wonderful that you... More

We went to South Dakota for the Crazy Horse Volksmarch held the first weekend of June. Since we had stayed at the Pine Rest cabins before, we booked our stay with them again. Again, we were not disappointed. We stayed in the Dakota cabin and were very pleased. You do your own cooking, but if you don't want to, there... More

We decided to go to the black hills for the first time in 20 years, and we picked the most perfect spot in Hill City. The cabin was fabulous, clean, quiet and easily affordable. The pine Rest cabins are in a perfect spot for ease to get everywhere, which we did. The bathhouse with the hot tub was wonderful as... More

Wow, how great is that! Thanks so much for your encouraging words! You were last in the Black Hills about the time we began our turn here at Pine Rest Cabins and we still think it's the perfect spot too! Glad you enjoyed the cabin and yes, our spring has been cool, so the fireplaces are nice to have. Have... More

My husband and I took a "creative retreat" during the off-season at Pine Rest Cabins. We had a great experience -- the cabins are clean, cozy, and stocked with everything you might need, from towels to coffee pots to dish soap. The scenery is beautiful year-round, and we had a peaceful, productive long weekend. The owners are friendly, great people.... More

In early Sept. we dropped off our son at college in Idaho. On our way home we went through the Tetons and ended up going through the Black Hills. We need a room for the night and call Pine Rest Cabins. The gal on the phone was so nice. She said that Cabin 5 was available so we booked it.... More

How kind of you to take the time to post a review of your last minute stay at Pine Rest. We loved the little cabin. We were in Cabin #2 at first, which has a nice kitchenette and a futon and comfy bed and electric heat. Cabins are nice sized, clean, and there are fresh towels and more toilet paper etc. to be had on request. The cabins are extremely conveniently located to Hill City which has some nice restaurants,... More

Apomb? I looked it up - I must say our guests ( at one point 17 ) all deserve the title "Grace under Pressure" as well. We found the accolades expressed by other reviewers to be true and accurate. The cabin was clean and contained everything that you would need during your stay. We originally booked a 3-day stay, but had to leave 2 days early because we wanted to avoid a once-in-a-decade, early October blizzard (as I write this, Rapid City had almost 4 feet... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Pine rest. The cabin was recently remodeled, very clean, and had some nice touches like lots of extra hangers for towels and a well thought out kitchen.
