These cabins are definitely "rustic". I'm not sure when they were built but it's definitely older construction. As a previous reviewer had mentioned, there is some settiling of the foundation and the roofs and doorways are lower than today's standards indicating an older building. All that being said, I liked the idea of the experience so none of the above... More

Exactly what we were looking for! Simple clean cabin, in the woods, with campfire, next to a creek at an affordable rate. We were in cabin 6 which was plenty enough room for two and we could hear the trickle of creek from our bedroom window. At night, the site was quiet (not all of the cabins were rented) and... More

I love this place due to it's location, rustic feel, views, and the quiet grounds, but I don't know if I will stay again. This place has a lot of potential and can be a great place with some work, I thought about offering my labor in exchange for a weeks stay as I am a electrician and former carpenter.... More

I wish the person who wrote this would have spoken with me while they were here so that these issues could have been addressed at the time instead of me reading about them online. We work very hard to address any issues that come up and would have been more than happy to work to either fix the issues or... More

Stayed in Cabin 14. We arrived relatively late on the first night, but the owners were accommodating. The cabin was fun and in good shape for its age. There is considerable settling in the cabin, but it didn't cause any problems. The cabin is close enough to town without being on a busy road. I would stay again.

My husband and our 3 kids spent 8 nights at this place. Loved it! The owners were super friendly and very motivated to make our stay as pleasant as possible. GREAT location! Mt. Rushmore just 14 miles away, along with Custer and Hill City; quick drive to get to all the places you want to visit! A creek is there... More

It is hard for me to give the property only three stars because the owners are new and working hard on improving things. First of all, scheduling was a breeze. Super easy, accepted my dogs, and made a few changes on the fly that we appreciated. We stayed in cabin 14 and it was great to have a little space... More

My daughters and I stayed there the end of Sept 2012. The cabin was rustic(which I expected) but very clean. New applicances in the kitchen; walls painted and owner was very friendly. If you want the true experience of staying "in" the Black Hills this will give you that. No it isn't fancy but clean and the aroma of the... More

My fiance and I booked our cabin for 20 nights but had enough after 2 nights. The floors were sticky which meant that they needed a good wash, the appliances were old and needed replacing badly, especially the fridge. One bedroom only fitted a bed and nothing more. It was very claustrophobic and we couldn't sleep in that room so... More

Think that many reviews here are outdated. My family and I were just there and loved it. The naturistic surroundings made everything worthwhile. The cabin we were in was very clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed and the couple who managed the cabins were super nice and really made you feel welcome. I was on a 4 day... More
