This is the second time we've stayed at Mountain View Lodge & Cabins. The first time was 3 years ago and we stayed in a cabin. Small but very nice and situated in the pines on the hill above the lodge rooms. This time we stayed in a 1 bedroom lodge room. All lodge rooms open onto a shared deck... More

We just stayed here for 5 nights. It was clean and comfortable. We stayed with our two boys in the room with two queen beds and kitchenette. We had plenty of room. The rooms aren't overall sound proof...we could hear our neighbors tv,etc., could only hear the loud trucks passing at night, but mostly slept right through. Very basic room,... More

Let me start with what we liked. Everything inside and outside extremely clean and well kept, gas grill to use, continental breakfast was adequate, nice patio and patio furniture, pool was small but refreshing and fun for kids, owners were quiet, friendly and helpful with advice. I do believe they take pride in their resort and maintain it well. However,... More

Two adults and 2 children stayed for 7 nights. The kids loved having the pool so close to the room, breakfast in the morning was included and nothing different than what we would have if we were home. The breakfast area was kept very clean and replenished. (Maybe if there was some soft music playing during breakfast, it would add... More

2 kids + 2 adults stayed 6 nights here. We were very comfortable, had everything we needed. NOTE, this is NOT a chain and is significantly less $$ than the big chains. Given what we paid per night it was excellent and deserving of the 5 rating. HOWEVER, if you are used to the Hilton or doubletree, or even the... More

My family of four stayed at Mountain View the week of July 4th, 2014. We had the small cabin and it worked perfectly for our family. It was cute, cozy and clean. My 17 year old stayed in the loft, it was a tight but she liked the little private quarters. My 15 year old loved the futon as he... More

Reasonable price, very friendly staff. We felt at home. Great location to go to nearby attractions (Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Rapid City) with a car and not crowded as staying in the middle of cities. If you do not have a car, it's not a good place to stay though. Views are beautiful and we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at the. Mountain View Lodge for 5 nights. It was a great value and a good location to tour the Black Hills. We enjoyed the free breakfast (cereal, toast, bananas, and coffee) and had a fire in the fire pit at night. (Wood was $2.50 a bundle and burned nicely). The staff was very friendly and attended to... This place is awesome! We were welcomed immediately by the owners with a warm smile and friendly atmosphere. They keep this place extremely clean. The rooms were nicely appointed with rustic charm and have everything you need for a getaway in the beautiful Black Hills. This location is perfect with it's location right off Hwy 16. You are literally minutes... More

Wasn't really blown away. This place just misses all the little details that make a place great to stay. Pay for firewood? You couldn't just throw a few logs in the fire pit considering the cost of the cabin rental? Pool was really small but the kids had fun. Until someone showed up from a local daycare with three kids.... More
