My family and I camped here for 7 days. The campground was a great location. All of the attractions were very close by. The owners were really nice people. The facilities were everything we needed. Swimming pool, nice bathrooms cleaned daily, hiking trails close by, and a nice store. Also had beautiful scenery. Will certainly stay again.

This campground was smaller with closer together spots than I'd thought it would be. The owners are amazing - helpful, kind, involved. The bathrooms were OK but often really crowded. Yes, the wifi didn't work well, but you're on a freaking camping trip so that part didn't bother me.

We stayed 4 nights in a camper cabin; these are very similar to KOA cabins. Ours had a porch swing with a great view and it was close to the bathroom! This campground is well-maintained; the showers/bathrooms are clean (and done during a low-usage time). Staff is friendly and very helpful...willing to make recommendations for restaurants, etc. It is on... More

My daughter and I recently went to the Black Hills of SD. We wanted to camp for 2 of our 4 nights in our tent. We discovered Horse Thief and immediately felt good about it. The rates were perfect for our limited budget. We arrived late in the evening and the reception we received was very friendly and gracious. We... More

There were a number of thoughtful small touches that make a big difference at this campground. For one, they don't feel the need to pack the tent sites like sardines. We picked a nice spot on a grassy slope where we had a nice breeze and a mix of sun and shade. Our nearest neighbors were always at least 50... More

Our family had many choices to camp but chose Horse Thief Campground. From the time that we called and talked with Julie all the way through our check in and stay they have been great! Very friendly, helpful, and clean!

The Horse Thief Campground was a wonderful place to stay visiting the Black Hills! The location is perfect, located in the middle of all of the major stops. The campground is extremely clean with wonderful bathroom and laundry facilities. The large campsites and friendly staff make for a very comfortable visit! Highly recommend!

This place is great! My family and I arrived on 6/4 and left on 6/9. It's conveniently placed near all of the major attractions in the Black Hills. The campground was always clean and the campsites had amazing views of the surrounding mountains. It is very quiet and secluded. We stayed at site 33 which was directly behind the bathhouse.... We visited this campground for the first time in June and loved it. Office personnel were polite and very helpful. The campground is quiet, wooded and great for families. It's close to a number of monuments and parks. Visited Toughrock Falls and Sturgis. We would visit again anytime we are in the area.
