The people in the office were super nice. We stayed at a tent site with no electric. I told them were were teachers on summer vacation looking for a quieter more adult site. They put us in a shady tent site up on a hill away from all the kids. It was great! We had tons of space to ourselves.... More

We stayed 4 nights in June. We asked to be near the bathroom, so we only had a few steps to them. The bathrooms are very clean. The location is great for touring the Black Hills area, especially our favorite park, Custer State Park. The only thing we didn't like was that the campsite was very fine dirt. When the... More

We RV camped during Sturgis week and the campsite was a nice sized location. The shower/bathroom facilities and pool were just a short walk away. The general store was nicely stocked and prices were reasonable. Only drawback was the roads. We encountered a lot of rain during the week and by week's end the roads were just mush. One bike... This was the CLEANEST camp ground I think I've ever stayed in. They even clean the fire pits out in between campers. It was located away from the road so you didn't have to see or hear the cars going by. We could see deer close by, very peaceful. The people there were great help and answered questions we had.... We stayed here 6 nights while we toured the whole area from the Badlands down to Hot Springs and loved it! The owners are VERY friendly and the campground was so quiet! We had no idea until someone told us that a large group of boy scouts were tent camping in the park, that's how quiet it was! The shower... More

This was our second yr at Horse thief Camp Ground. They have a great pool, excellent showers and quiet facility. This is a family run camp run for families. Camp sites are spacious and secluded. Cost $21 a night or $20 with AAA. Plus it is a great location for Mt Rushmore, Custer St Park, horseback riding, Keystone, and hiking.

A Very quiet and relaxing stay, well kept up, showers, rest room and pools were very clean. Location was great, just a stone throw away from the best riding, owners were very nice and personal. Plan to stay here again next year.........

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. They were accommodating with our late check-in, and they were so friendly. They offered suggestions and helped us jump start our car when the battery died. We didn't have to drive far to reach Mt. Rushmore or Crazy Horse, and that was a big factor in choosing this campground. Only 1 bathhouse and laundry area,... More

We really liked that this campground was secluded from highway noise and very spacious, extremely clean campsites. The sites were a little close together, in that you could hear the campers at the next site as though they were right next to you. There is only one bathhouse with plumbing in the campground, there are several port-a-potties peppered around the... More

We stayed here for a week and loved it. Our tent site was incredibly quiet and peaceful, and the whole campground was quiet by night fall. The bathhouse is small, but very clean. Each tent site has a fire ring for camp fires, but the picnic shelters only have gas grills and you need to bring your own propane if... More
