We stayed over Memorial Day Weekend. While the weather did not exactly cooperate, the campground experience was excellent. It is centrally situated to visit any destination in the Black Hills. I used to be a park ranger for the GFP and was very impressed with the cleanliness of the campground and its facilities. It takes a lot of work and... More

We stayed here in our 30 foot travel trailer . They have full hook ups , no cable, ok cell service . Gravel pull through sites. Well maintained . Bathrooms clean, aging , but with plenty of hot water and pressure . Small but well stocked store run by a great family. Right next door to Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse,... More

Stayed in a lovely cabin after a long drive, where we even got a pizza delivery (it took an hour but it was a long way!). Comfy cabin, but as it went quiet for our second and third nights he said we could move to a slightly bigger one, that wasn't what we needed, but we did want to be... More

This was probably our favourite campground during our whole 2 week trip through the Dakotas. We stayed 2 nights and we wished we had stayed longer when we realized how close it is to all the attractions we wanted to see. I liked that I could book the camping online a month in advance and they sent me a reservation... More

You better believe "you come add guests and leave as friends!" Horse Thief is super clean, big rv spots, seemingly endless hot water in a spotless bath house. Thank you so much Julie, Paul and Rich for all your help and the chicken soup and for making it "home." I could go on forever but I'll just say we will... More

We stayed in one of the tent sights with no electricity. Our sight was up on the hill. I think the sights in the meadow looked quite a bit nicer, but we made our reservations only a week before labor day weekend. Meadow sights are larger and have very nice grass fields to setup tents in. The hill was wooded,... More

My fiance and I stayed at Horse Thief in early July and it is absolutely wonderful. It is in the Black Hills, close to Custer State Park, the Needles Highway, Mount Rushmore, and the Crazy Horse monument. I HIGHLY recommend staying here as it was clean, well kept, affordable, and simply beautiful!

This place was perfect! I made my reservation for Labor Day weekend months in advance just in case. When I reserved, we had a teeny camper. When we bought Clause (our obnoxiously large monster rv), the thought to call and reserve a larger spot didn't even register in my mind. Well it did.. 10 miles from Horse Thief (and 5... More

This place is great. Wonderful setting, friendly and informative staff, and very clean facilities. Hot showers included is a great plus! Pretty easy to find and very centrally located among the area attractions.

Great facility. Well kept. All the resources we needed. Close to lots of attractions. We were camping on the outer rim. Great spot to be at. Close to the restroom close to the pool and the store. We needed some extras and they were well stocked. Quiet place.
