Rafter J Bar Ranch is an awesome campground right in the heart of the Black Hills SD. The campground is pristine with lots to do. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms and showers are nice and clean. My wife usually does not like camping but even she agrees that this campground is top notch. There is wildlife... More

Great weekend in a cabin in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It was the last weekend of the camping year, but the staff were friendly and helpful. Cabins were clean and well-equipped (refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker with comp. coffee, toaster, etc.). Bath in cabin supplemented by a shower/bath facility in the loop.

We spent two weeks at Rafter J Bar and would definitely go back. Big, well treed sites with fire pits and lots of parking space. The staff in the office were helpful sand the campground was located close to hiking and other attractions. The only two complaints were the cost of firewood (to be fair it was overpriced everywhere in... More

We spent a week in Sept. 2015 here in the Base Camp area. Lovely setting. Good wifi, but apparently reception is not uniform throughout the camp. Employees friendly the couple of times we had dealings with them. Restroom/shower/laundry facilities a good distance away, depending on where you are camped; but they were very clean and machines in laundry worked very... More

My Wife and I just stayed at the Rafter J Bar Ranch, it was the best RV park we've stayed in so far, it is a giant park, with several areas to stay in, we stayed in the Ranch Camp area, it is surrounded by trees but you can still have full hook ups, the Ranch borders the Black Hills... More

We just got back home from a weeks stay at Rafter J. It is by far one of the best RV resorts we have visited. We camped in the line camp and found it perfect! We were a bit concerned that there was no cable in this camp but we were able to get several channels with our antenna. The... More

We stayed here on our way out west and on our way back. We stayed on both the Main Camp and the Ranch Camp. The Ranch Camp was very shaded and private. The Main Camp was also shaded, but was a bit more open which would be great if you are camping with others. There is a very nice pool... More

We had a great time for a few days there at the island. We might pick lower ranch camp next time to be closer to the pool and playground. The office/food/general store is nice but not a welcoming feel. Seems like there were alot of workers hanging out and not super friendly. That wouldn't prevent me from staying again.

We stayed in a comfort cabin- which consisted of a double bed, and small bunk beds- also the seating area could be turned into a double bed, but we did not use this. The area of the campground is great. It's very close to Mt. Rushmore and Hill City has a grocery store and a couple of decent restaurants. What... More

We stayed in one of the small log cabins. With four of us (my wife and two adult daughters) it was tight. There are larger cabins, but none were available. The small cabins would work with 2 small children, but because the beds were in the same room as the kitchen sleeping late was impossible. They do provide had towels,... More
