We stayed in one of the small cabins (no bathroom/kitchen) for 3 nights. It was fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable, the main bathroom facilities were spotless, the pool and hot tub were amazing. We loved the pancake breakfast. The setting is gorgeous and close to all of the main tourist attractions. We will definitely book here again if... More

Rafter J is perfectly situated to serve as a base for visiting all of the major sites in the Black Hills area. Very handy to Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Needles Hwy., Iron Mtn. Road, Wildlife Loop and easy for day trips to Deadwood, Sturgis, Keystone (don't waste your time going there), and of course Hill City. Lovely setting with scenic views.... More

My son and I rented a cabin, and two other family member brought their campers, was a very nice campground. Pool and hot tub were warm and nice. Skip the all-you-can-eat pancakes in the morning, not so good. Family reported the showers/bathrooms were clean.

This place had some really nice sites, ours was level and plenty of good views. I was not impressed with some of the "amenities" though. The internet was not working for our 3 day stay. Not too big a deal, but when you pay $55 a night and don't even have cable, you expect something right? The "island" where we... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in a 40 ft Class A motorhome and were very pleased. This was one of many RV resorts we have stayed at during a 6 month trip and one of the best. It was a very beautiful setting with wide sites. We stayed in base camp and had full hook ups and good satellite... More

I searched for an RV site for 4-5 nights while exploring the Black Hills. Narrowed it down to 4-5 and finally picked this one. WOW. Upon arrival it was top notch treatment. The views from your site—stupendous!! Only 2 miles outside Hill City on a main road. Plus it has Verizon 4G available. Ice was only $2 for 8#. I... More

Our kids loved it. We thought it was nice. My husband thought it was little expensive. A few things...they could use more hooks/shelves in the showers. My relatives were in a cabin and said the same...more hooks and shelves needed, but the cabin was nice. Kerrig coffee maker was a great touch. My family has a camper and we stayed... More

Over the past 25 years my family has stayed at this campground at least 15-20 times. It has always been a great experience! Everything is always clean, quiet, and comfortable. The pancake breakfast was excellent! We will definitely return for more trips in the future! They value open spaces and large camp sites with beautiful views of the black hills.... More

We stayed at the Rafter J Bar Ranch Campground for six nights. The campground is in close proximity to a number of things the Black Hills has to offer including Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Sylvan Lake. The campground is divided into approximately 5 different "camps," some of which do not allow tent camping. We stayed at the "Ranch Camp."... More

We planned our family trip to visit Mt. Rushmore and surrounding sites. I was concerned when we discovered that it was during the first weekend of Sturgis MC rally. The staff assured us that their guests were highly respectful and they did not allow the rally to disturb their other guests. Although the surrounding area was full of MC's and... More
