This is a place of conflicting impressions - much like Deadwood itself in many ways. You enter through a small door into the casino and checkin at the casino desk - which is actually the checkin desk for 2 hotels. the desk people were both very friendly and helpful (checkin) and completely slow and clueless (checkout). be sure to review... My wife and I stayed here at this cool little hotel in Deadwood during the bike rally! It really is like stepping back in time. The furnishings, except for the beds of course are like being in Deadwood back in 1870's. The service was good, people there extremely nice and helpful, especially Melanie the owner. Scones and coffee just outside... More

I was thrilled to be with such wonderful people being alone 3000miles from home I felt like I was with friends everyday, the town is fabulous and you want to be part of the old west, the hotel is designed to make you feel like you are in the 1800s, yes you can stay at a Marriott but you will... We enjoyed our stay at the Martin Mason Hotel. On the plus side, our room was nicely appointed and the bed was super comfortable. The plumbing was really good for an old hotel. The scones and coffee were a nice treat each morning. I would give it a 4 star rating, but we did not get housekeeping service on our... More

Thank you for your review. We are glad that your stay with us was so wonderful! We do want to remind you of the PRIVACY PLEASE door hangers that we, and other hotels, provide for our guests. If you choose to hang this sign on the door, we will not disturb you in any way. The other side of the... More

We liked the location as it was close but not right on the main street. Was a little pricey but this was also the week before the big Sturgis event. We stayed in a suite. The bed was amazingly comfortable and so was the pullout couch for my sons.

Hands down to the Martin Mason Hotel! This hotel was absolutely beautiful! Great food, very friendly and helpful staff and the most beautiful rooms ever! Fresh baked scones right outside our door each morning with coffee. Complimentary water and soda throughout our stay. We were very fortunate to meet Melanie (the owner- super sweet lady) during our stay. She gave... More

It is always nice when people are genuinely interested in the history of the area and I love talking about our historic renovation and rooms. When you walk in to the property you enter a very grubby looking casino so it was with some trepidation we went upstairs, we needn't have worried the room was beautiful with a large very soft bed, the hotel rooms were nicely laid out and had high quality furniture, fixtures and fittings. There was also free soda, tea and coffee... More

Thanks for the nice review! We are happy you had a great time in our hotel! It is unfortunate that you have to enter almost all the hotels in Deadwood through a casino, but such is the problem of a town with gaming. We have separate entrances for our guests to eliminate this issue for those who want to use... More

I stayed here for a night and very much enjoyed staying in the period style rooms. Very comfortable bed with a couch to sit on as well. Nice size bathroom - sink was in the bedroom area but that was fine. There was free drinks (i.e. water, diet coke, etc) available throughout your stay. The scones and coffee in the... More

Our stay on 6-9-2014 was awsome. The room was beautiful. The furniture was real antique & well restored. The pillowtop king bed with ample pillows was very comfortable. It was quiet and had no problems. Breakfast at the grill found us enjoying great food & friendly c00k-watress & bussboy -all in one (somebody didn't show for work..but the cook did... More

We spent 1 night in the Sanderson room and really enjoyed our stay. The room was very comfortable and styled in an old fashioned manner with genuine period furniture and well matched decor that felt very authentic rather than contrived. The facilities are less than one finds in a modern hotel rooms but this was more than offset by a... More
