I love the historic feeling of the hallways in this building. Our room was on the small side, but was perfectly fine for our one night stay. We had a queen bed and the bathroom was a good size. It was cute with its french doors. The room was pretty dark, a maroon color, but it totally fit in with... More

Thank you for your kind words, and for being our guest. I am delighted that our boutique hotel emitted a "historic feeling" and a "historic vibe" for you during your stay. I am here every day ,and this place often speaks to me in the same manner. I believe most of our guests see the charm that our establishment, built... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of this historic inn. Our room was on the 3rd floor in a corner, which gave us three windows to overlook the streets below. It was huge with 20' ceilings and and lovely modern bathroom. We had an amoire and a couch also. Bed and pillows very comfortable. The casino on the main floor was... More

Wow, than you for your praise. We are grateful for your business and glowing recommendation. My favorite room views are also the two corner "king suites." The views from the east wall are all very nice as well. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay in Deadwood and our boutique hotel. Thank you for being our guest, and we... More

Relatively basic hotel just a short walk to the main area for bars and resturants.Clean and tidy with friendly staff. Like most hotels in Deadwood, ground floor full of gaming machines although when we visted the gamblers were conspicious by their absence!

Thank you for being our guest, and for your kind words. Your description is very fair: Our rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable (Although they vary in size due to the historic nature of our building.) We are in the center of town, an easy walk to the restaurants, bars and attractions. Our adjacent parking is free, and we are... More

We traveled to Deadwood to enjoy a weekend in the Black Hills. The room was comfortable, clean, the staff was friendly and the ice machine nearby. The hotel sits atop a casino, complete with every imaginable slot machine, bring your credit card if that's how you roll. The hotel is one block off Main Street and all of downtown Deadwood... More

Thank you for your kind words, and for being our guest. Many of our guests like our location (along with the Lee Street Station Diner!) Our central location makes it is an easy walk to all of the downtown sites and attractions. We try to offer a clean, comfortable room at an affordable price. We hope to see you again... More

My wife and I decided to stay at Iron Horse after reading reviews about the age and rusticness of the property. It is both: old and rustic, and as long as you know that you'll be fine with this hotel. The hotel could use some sprucing up and probably a good spring cleaning, but it's comfortable and reasonably quiet for... More

Thank you for being our guest in our boutique hotel! Many of our guests enjoy staying in a historic property when visiting historic Deadwood. Because our building was constructed at the turn of the century, we are certainly not a standard franchise property: our rooms vary in size and our hallways are a little narrow. I will pass your compliments... More

We stayed in Room 308 for 11 days in late June/early July and had another fantastic experience. We sleep better here than anywhere else - soft bedding with a light down comforter and several fluffy pillows do the trick. We never hear any noise from outside or other rooms and feel we have total privacy here. The housekeeping staff does... More

Thank you for being our repeat guest. I will pass along your compliments to our staff. We do ask our staff to "wear many hats" in operating our small family owned hotel. (Often the staff includes my wife and myself!) But with just nineteen rooms it often allows all of us to get to know our guests on a more... More

I stayed at the Iron Horse Inn for three nights during the Fourth of July weekend. This was my second time staying at this hotel and I can't say enough how welcoming and amazing the entire staff is! They go to great lengths to make sure you're taken care of here. Our room and hallway were always quiet and we... More

Thank you for your kind words, and for being our repeat guest. Many of our guests comment on our central location and free parking. It is convenient to the downtown shopping and action, yet it is removed enough for a quiet sleeping experience. I will pass along your compliments to our staff. While the room was ok and clean the check in and check out was extremely slow. The clerks seemed indifferent to the line of customers. Spent time chatting with other help while clients waited in line. The room was clean. Bed was nothing special. Very few easily accessible electric outlets for cell phones and other electronics. I noticed after the... More

Thank you for being our guest. I am sorry that your check-in did not meet your expectations. Typically our staff performs this in a quick and efficient manner. That said, occasionally many guests arrive at the same time and a backlog occurs. Our hotel was built in 1896, and, while remodeled in the late 1990's, the power outlets are sometimes... More

Stayed at the Iron Horse for two nights in May. Greeted at the front desk by friendly staff. Room was clean, roomy, comfortable and quiet. Lots of ambience and a perfect location. The casino downstairs was fun. We walked to other casinos, restaurants, museum, everything was close by. Called for some extra towels, staff was on it in less than... More

We wanted to stay in an historic hotel in Deadwood, and given the reviews on TripAdvisor, we thought this would be the perfect place. It's in a central location and definitely gives off an 'old West' vibe. However, it definitely doesn't give you your money's worth. The room we booked was $145/night, and after we waded through the morass that... More

Thank you for trying our historic hotel. Boutique hotels like ours are not for everyone, and I am glad you were more comfortable in the Holiday Inn. For the record, we do have a casino on our main floor, and most of our guests enjoy that experience. All of our matresses are of the modern "pillow top" variety, but I... More
