We have stayed at all the major Deadwood Hotels, and they are nice. First Gold is different. They know their visitors well. We stayed in building three. And while it is far from the main casino, they have shuttles running all the time. We walked because we need the exercise! Their casino offers free drinks and snacks; they are always... more

This is without question the popular hotel with the bus tour crowd. At breakfast, i was easily (at 40) the youngest person of the 40-50 people in the room. This senior-heavy crowd can create a few problems, but at least they are quiet! I stayed in building three--these rooms are clearly new and reasonably nice (although the lack of a... more

We stayed at First Gold for a bus trip for Superbowl weekend. We stayed in the main building of the hotel. We like the convenience of the main building but the way the bathroom sink is around the corner from the rest of the bathroom is an odd design aspect. The rooms are pretty large and quite clean. Ours faced... more

We stayed at this hotel as part of a bus tour. The hotel is located at one end of downtown Deadwood. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to downtown, where the restaurants, bars, shops, and casinos are. The hotel is built off of a hill, so views from the hotel windows can vary. There are also multiple buildings associated... more

This ersatz addition to Deadwood lodging has pros and cons. On the bright side, there is great lighting over the bed, free wifi and cute touches of decor like the vintage western movie poster and tiffany style table lamp. The bed was good and all the bathroom fixtures worked well --since the place is new there are no surprises there.... more

First Gold Hotel and Casino consists of at least 3 buildings. Between 2 of them is the parking lot with wild western houses (fake) in the back. In the main hotel is the casino. House 2 faces the street and the main hotel as well as the parking lot. Even in this building you will find slot machines on first... more

We love the First Gold. We are frequent customers and First Gold is our favorite place in Deadwood. They have made many improvements such as brand new rooms and a new parking garage for more convenient parking. The value and cleanliness of the rooms is exceptional. The staff is what makes this place the best in Deadwood. They have the... more

My husband and I stayed here for two nights because the other hotels in town were booked. It was a place to stay. The resturant food was yucky. Don't eat there. The rooms were ok. Nothing fancy. I thought the place was a little expensive but we needed a place to stay like I said. If I was to go... more

We loved it! My wife and I and another couple spent bike week at First Gold. The staff was great! They made it worth every penny the room was clean and if you had an issue the were on top of it. The food was ok and the casino was great. The price is not the cheapest in town but... more
