We stayed for three nights over Thanksgiving at First Gold Hotel and Gaming and urge you never to stay there. 1) The buffet is overpriced for what they serve and the dungeon cafeteria where it's served; you don't see the dark space until AFTER you pay IN ADVANCE for your meal and then descend to the basement, which a likely... Was looking for an inexpensibe hotel and this one fit the bill. For only $39.00 per night (online special) we got a king size bed. Nothing fancy but was just there for the night. All the king rooms, we were told, are in one building, building #3. Was a little bit of an effort to find the room since you... More

We are always pleased with our accommodations and the friendliness of the staff. The prices are very good, the gaming area is neat and well tended. We have stayed many times thru the years and each experience is very pleasant

This is an ok place that was very clean and not far away from downtown. Nothing special, but people were very nice and helpful, the room was clean, the bed was good. Deadwood is the attraction, so this is just an overnight place to stay.

I booked two nights. The 17th and 18th. The 17th was fine other than my room smelled like a dog kennel. Luckily we brought the Fabreeze. The place was clean but the TV was fuzzy, not serious I know but still. The 18th was rediculous. The people above us were so loud. From 2 am until we had to go... More

We found this on the Internet and liked the price. That was about it. It is a midrange hotel, but, like everything else in Deadwood, if you're not gambling you probably won't enjoy it. Its sole purpose is to be a place where sad tired gamblers can crash for the night. Now, that being said, it wasn't awful. It was... More

We were in building 3 which is newer, but far away from everything else. Wait, maybe that's a positive... Like EVERY hotel in Deadwood this is a casino first. Building 3 feels like a storage locker for humans. The rooms are fine, big and clean, with no charm whatsoever. Even the shower is weird. It's fine, but overpriced even at... More

We really enjoy feeling welcomed and appreciated on our group visits. The warm, friendly, open, well-lit playing area is conveniently arranged. Our room was a good size and very clean. Even though there are two buildings, the shuttle service makes getting between places easy. First Gold's location is super - across the street from the Museum of '76 , within walking... More

Overall not bad. The staff was very welcoming and nice. The place is old and a little run down but for the price I would stay here again. If you're looking for a really nice hotel you should go elsewhere but if you want a budget hotel this may be the place for you

I booked this place on Priceline. It was listed as three stars, but it was much cheaper than the other options around. The place is a little bit shady. It's a bit out of town and when you check in, the place kind of reeks of smoke. I wasn't completely confident that my car wouldn't get broken into given the... More
