I stayed in this historic hotel in 1965, and in 1970 and once again in 1998. I love this hotel. I don't know if they still have the old elevator, but they did back in the day. The last stay I was sad to see slots in the lobby, but seems they have been moved out to perhaps the old... More

This is my favorite gaming spot !!! The staff are crazy friendly and helpful! They have one of the few electronic roulette machines ever! It is a must stop!! There is a bar upstairs that you can sit outside and take in the view of deadwood .The historic building is lovely

THE WORST OF THE WORST! Putting the poor state of the rooms aside (torn carpet, shabby décor, non-working air conditioning, smelly, substandard electrical etc.) this place has the worst customer service I have EVER encountered! DON'T YOU HAVE A "NO STARS" RATING????????????!

This was my second stay at the Franklin Hotel. The first was back in about 2000. I looked at the photos on their website and it appeared that the rooms had been remodeled since my first stay. I was disappointed, to say the least, that not much had changed in the rooms after the acquisition by the Silverado. You can... More

Expected a nicer room. The door didn't fit the frame completely, the air conditioner didn't shut off, the shower was hot/cold not even temp. The smell was a little funky in the room. Didn't care for the peeling paint in all the rooms. Should have asked to see the rooms first would not have stayed there for $130, but arrived... More

Very quaint place. The lobby was really gorgeous with old chandliers and nice sitting areas. The Hotel was build in the early 1900's so don't expect many luxuries. The rooms were clean and neat, although a bit small. The bathroom actually had a claw foot bathtub. The elevators were a plus and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. We... More

We stayed here our first night . Grand old charm in the lobby. Then the disappointment we went to our room. The old musty smell was the first thing noticed when we got up to the floors with nthe rooms . The doors to the rooms looked as though they had been kicked in a few times over the years.... More

Went for a weekend getaway and for the Mickelson Trail Marathon. Didn't want to spend too much and be near the end of the race. The price was right and within walking distance to the finish line, casinos and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and the room was very quiet. I definitely felt like I went back in time,... Old Historic Hotel, our room was small but we loved staying there and will probably stay there again the next time in Deadwood. The staff was very helpful and friendly . The location is walking distance to everything...... if somebody is expecting a new Holiday Inn like atmosphere, you WILL be disappointed.

Im astounded by all the bad reviews here. This hotel is the most prominent in town with the best possible location. Its like a time-warp going back into the late 1800s or early 1900s. Everything is like it was but with some modern comforts. For the price I paid ($40) per night it was the best value hotel that I... More
