My 8 year old daughter and I stayed at The Prairie House on a pilgrimage to Laura Ingalls Wilder sites. It was a great choice. The hosts and their family were all very nice, polite and helpful without being overwhelming. The twin bedroom wasn't big, but the attached private bath was, so there was plenty of room for our stuff.... more

We stayed at the Prairie House while stopping overnight to visit the Ingalls Homestead, which was great. We are a family of 4 with 2 young girls. The room was great and the beds were comfortable. The new owners are recent east coast transplants and they shared with us their story of how they made the move to De Smet.... more

We stayed at the Prairie House Manor on a pageant weekend. The owners were warm and gracious and have done a great job remodeling the inn. We stayed in the Japanese Garden room and our cousins stayed in another of the rooms. Breakfast was excellent and the lady of the house is knowledgable on all things Ingalls. We felt at... more

We stayed at the Prairie House B&B with two families (5 in each family) and it was great! Our kids were right at home playing with all the toys on the front porch while the adults sat and relaxed. We stayed in the "My Rose Garden" and "American Meldly" rooms and there was plenty of room for all of us.... more

The new owners had only been on the job for 5 weeks when we stayed here for one night during the pagent. They are very friendly, and accommodated every request we had ~ even giving us their own table at breakfast since we asked to be served earlier than we had originally planned. Our family of 4 stayed in the... more

This B&B has new owners. Andy and Jenny took it over just this month and they are wonderful to deal with. Very friendly and anxious to please their guests. The former owners are still around to help them through the transition. Although this is a very old house it is in great condition. Everything I saw appeared recently installed or... more

Owners were not in when we arrived but they left us a friendly note on the door telling us how to reach our room and a contact number if we needed anything, We had 'Forever Blossoms' on the ground floor which had a king sized bed, Hot tub and a seperate entrance. The room was well equipped with TV, Fridge... more

Wonderful B and B - actual house of Banker Ruth in the Little House books. Comfortable and quaint, just as you'd hope it would be. We stayed in Rose Garden room, big enough for family of 4, soft beds, nice bathroom. Lots of Little House stuff to be done in town, but can be done in one day. Free wifi.... more
