One rainy day in May we arrived at the Linkwater Motel with a room booked in advance. We were cautious and curious, given that the room rate was by far the least expensive of our three weeks in New Zealand. The Motel is isolated -- which is wonderful if you have transportation as we did. I cannot imagine staying there... More

We stayed here on impulse after deciding we couldn't be bothered to drive back to Picton after an afternoon of sea kayaking. This was a great find. The rooms were clean and modern. Katerina was so helpful, even after I had dragged her twice over to the laundry for help. The shower in the room was good, one of the... More

I was recently mountain biking in the Sounds, and had broken my chain for the second time that day near Linkwater. I stopped in, in the hopes of calling a cab or the rental company. Instead, the owner first tried to see if his uncle could bring me back to Picton (he had already left), then got one of his... More

Great motel about half way between Picton and Haverlock. No immediate view over water, but a lovely rural spot. Modern, spacious, clean and well-equipped rooms. Nice little pool. Very reasonable rates. Changed hands last year. New owners could not have been more helpful. (Amongst other things, gave us a lift to the tavern/restaurant in their immaculate1973 Pontiac.) If you want... More

As a group of 4 we're debating between a four and five rating. This is the first of all our hotels that didn't have a hair dryer or coffee press---not the end of the world. We did have the best Internet service of our trip so we could all get on the Internet to check our mail,etc.. at the same... More

Countryside, family run motel with owner living at the premises, has picked up all my sympathies from the very beginning. The owner has built this motel on his farm land as an addition to his everyday farm life. If I remember correctly, he has some 700 or more sheep down the road and he is a proud owner of a... More

We wanted a reasonably priced motel as an overnight stop while travelling up to Golden Bay. We had camped at Linkwater a few years back and liked the area plus I wanted to drive through Queen Charlotte drive ( one of my favourite drives). We had a ground floor family unit that was very clean and comfortable. Even though it's... More

We stayed for a couple of nights over new year and had a brilliant time. We were in the backpacker section, but it was so clean and spacious that it felt more like private rooms! The whole motel was very clean and well decked out, and the location was perfect for the sounds (and the amazing local pub!). Best of... More

We stay here for 2 nights. This place is quiet close to Queen Charlotte tracks. It's located in a quiet location. The unit we stayed in have a kitchen, we bought food to cook from Havelot supermarket and Picton supermarket. You need to have a car if you want to stay at this place. The owners are very friendly people,... More

The family motel unit was really spacious and well fitted-out with everything we needed. The location was really convenient for Anakiwa (for the Outward Bound school and the end of the Queen Charlotte Track). Very friendly hosts.
