We first stayed here four years ago on our first trip to New Zealand. We looked at the motels in Picton but decided that we preferred the beautiful rural setting of Linkwater. A stay of 1 night was quickly extended to 3 nights. We have been coming back since then every year for the last four years when we visited... More

The good: * room was spotless * shared facilities were also spotless * also a bargain at around $70AUD per night * very friendly owner (and dog) A bit less good: * room was teeny weeny * there was a little bit of noise when people moved around the hotel Overall, a pretty good stay for the money.

We arrived here late at night in the pitch black after driving along the very narrow and twisty Queen Charlotte Drive, and wondered wha we were letting ourselves in for. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly hosts who got us checked in quickly and showed us to our accommodation in the backpackers wing. The room was small, but... More

Great spot in a peaceful rural setting 30min outside Picton. Facilities clean and modern. Nice little pool for the kids. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Be sure to call them directly for the best price.

Great place in great location close to Queen Charlotte Track, Havelock the Sounds and Picton. Everything is of very clean and of high standard from beds to bedlinens and we got a few very good nights sleeps. Great value for money, when we compared to other places we have stayed in NZ. We came back to stay one more night... More

One rainy day in May we arrived at the Linkwater Motel with a room booked in advance. We were cautious and curious, given that the room rate was by far the least expensive of our three weeks in New Zealand. The Motel is isolated -- which is wonderful if you have transportation as we did. I cannot imagine staying there... More

We stayed here on impulse after deciding we couldn't be bothered to drive back to Picton after an afternoon of sea kayaking. This was a great find. The rooms were clean and modern. Katerina was so helpful, even after I had dragged her twice over to the laundry for help. The shower in the room was good, one of the... More

I was recently mountain biking in the Sounds, and had broken my chain for the second time that day near Linkwater. I stopped in, in the hopes of calling a cab or the rental company. Instead, the owner first tried to see if his uncle could bring me back to Picton (he had already left), then got one of his... More

Great motel about half way between Picton and Haverlock. No immediate view over water, but a lovely rural spot. Modern, spacious, clean and well-equipped rooms. Nice little pool. Very reasonable rates. Changed hands last year. New owners could not have been more helpful. (Amongst other things, gave us a lift to the tavern/restaurant in their immaculate1973 Pontiac.) If you want... More
