My husband and I just got back from a stay at Pirateland. It was, to say the least, a nightmare. We booked after viewing the website...DON'T go to the website! (very misleading) We had stayed previously at Apache and Lakewood and had fairly decent stays. So, we decided to give Pirateland a shot. Bad idea. I have to tell you... more

We have been staying at Pirateland for the past 5 years and will never return after this year. We have noticed the camprgound progressively going downhill and this year was the last. The front desk personel were VERY rude. We normally come in on the Friday before our Sat. check-in (we stay in the vacation rentals) so we don't lose... more

We try to keep customers informed of changes and do our best to provide them with reservation policy information up front, to avoid any surprises. When reserving vacation rentals, customers receive and sign a rental agreement which expressly states the terms of the reservation including; “Check in time is 4:00 p.m. or later on the arrival date. Guests arriving earlier...

I have also been reading these bad reviews of Pirateland Campground. It appears to me that some of the problems they talk about are brought onto themselves by their owm mistakes and petty gripes. We have been going to Pirateland for over 10 years and have never had problems with anything here. The entire staff at Pirateland have always been... more

We always stay at Pirateland. We have tried others but either there is nothing to do or it is so big and busy we can't relax. Pirateland has plenty to do if you want or not. I have been reading the reviews from some of these people who are very dissatisfied and they bother me because I have never seen... more

We recently planned a vacation to Pirateland based on the "CREATIVE MARKETING" fro their website. We were disappointed immediately. The staff was very rude. The front desk clerks were not personable at all. We were given our site information and sent on our way. They did not tell us that the area that we were being sent to was like... more

The sand dunes between the campground road and the ocean protect the park from potential storm surge. There are pictures of the sand dunes on our website as well as an areal view of the park which shows the camping sites, the campground road along the camping sites, sand dunes, beach, and the ocean.

Check in was easy. Check out was easier. Campground has patrol units on golf carts at night to ensure the quiet policy after 11pm. We were in a front site near the ocean, a little disappointed there wasnt an ocean view ....sand dunes. I guess their there for a reason so o well. Golf cart rental was worth it for... more

We stayed at Pirateland from July 28th to August 3rd. After reading several reviews on this site before leaving for our 9 day trip (1st 3 days at Jellystone in Tabor City, NC), I was a bit concerned about going to Pirateland, but I always take real bad and real good reviews cautiously. Our first impression was that the place... more

The pros are that the beach and the pool/lazy river are very nice. The cons are that the traffic through the campground is rediculous. The rvs are coming and going, along with a million golf carts that are zipping around. Don't think of taking a nice bike ride through the park! I worried about our three children (ages 6,6, &... more

We just returned from a trip to Pirateland. Unlike some of the other reviews, we did not find that the bathhouses were dirty. As well, we also found that there was adequate patrol of the roadways in the park. We constantly saw the patrol car and actually were told not to allow our son on our lap when driving the... more
