From the moment Johannes greeted us until we checked out we were treated like royalty. One of the most relaxing vacations I have ever had. Breakfasts were out of this world. Amenities were next to none. I highly recommend this as one of those hidden gems that will leave you happy and invigorated. Don't leave without getting a historical tour... More

We stayed at Kilburnie on a Friday and Saturday night in early April 2015. We met cousins there for a relaxing weekend. I had read about the interesting background of this old B & B and the farm. I had seen the pictures of the old house that had sat empty for 40 years in the nearby town of Lancaster... More

Only stayed one night but thoroughly enjoyed it. Great history here and some incredible antiques. As has been mentioned in their reviews, the breakfast was over the top. Although invited, I didn't have time to visit the owners home across the highway but I've been told it is a treasure as well.

My husband and I stayed at Kilburnie while in Lancaster, SC for a wedding. The attention to detail, comfortable and tasteful environment, the tranquility inside and out provided a welcome and thoroughly enjoyable respite. Breakfast was wonderful, the hydrotherapy tub was luxurious and reading in bed with the fireplace roaring was incredible. The restoration of the B&B and the main... More

I can't even put to words the wonderful experience of staying at Kilburnie. From the time you arrive to the time you leave, you are treated the way you would treat a guest in your own home. My wife and I have stayed there several times, and look forward to returning soon.

My husband and I stayed there on Thanksgiving. The place was beautiful, clean and quiet. We had a late checkin and he was waiting for us with a huge smile on his face. Made to feel very welcomed. We hope to return so we can hike and explore the property. The owners graciously took us on a tour of the... More

You can't go wrong staying at Kilburnie if you want tranquility, beauty, and delightful breakfasts. We stayed in the attic suite which is spacious, bright, and comfortable. Johannes is the most gracious of hosts who gladly gave me a personal tour of this property and his lovely home across the way! When he discovered I was a picky eater he... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay at Kilburnie. It was a pleasure meeting you and learning from you about the geological history of the Carolinas. I added your essay to the Kilburnie website and have gotten many positive responses. Do come back if you ever find yourselves again in the southeast. More

My wife and I spent a night at Kilburnie in late August 2014 as part of a trip to the Charlotte area. The inn is located on a beautifully landscaped site on the Craig Farm, outside Lancaster, SC. It is an easy drive from Charlotte on US521, divided highway almost all the way. Built and restored in the Federal style,... More
