Our family spent a week in one of the cottages. When we entered, it appeared to only be 'broom' cleaned. We advised the front office and the cleaning lady returned. We went to Hilton Head Island to participate in a week long bridge tournament at the Mariotte Hotel, right next door to the Villages at Palmetto Dunes. This vacation was an overall great experience. The condo was pretty well kept, and the landscaping is gorgeous. All of the workers around the Village were extremely friendly and helpful. We have stayed at The Village several times and have always had a wonderful experience. Now if your past experience has been at the more "resorty" types of accomodations or if flash and glitter is your desire, The Village may not be for you. I disagree with the other reviewer. My family and I stayed in two units at "the Village" at Palmetto Dunes in mid July, 2006 and had a great experience. Our group stayed in one 2 bedroom / 2 bath unit, and another "studio" style unit in the village. Both of our units were in great shape and were very clean.... more

I searched in vain for reviews of The Village prior to my trip and could find none. I hope this provides adequate warning to those visiting the Ghetto of Palmetto Dunes.
