I stopped at one in the morning, desperate tired from driving all day, I was only in the room for 1 and 1/2 hours before something starting eating me alive under the sheets, I went the the desk and told the woman I was going to have to leave because I was getting chewed up, and she says, "oh I... more

Well, my husband asked me to stay here on my way to Boston, MA because he said when he went with his family when he was "younger" it was fun. So i thought, okay why not. So i checked in, i liked it beacuse i had my own car port in front of my hotel room. I checked in fairly... more

At one time this was a good place to stop for a break. It was an example of American tackiness from the 50's and 60's. You would see the signs for Pedro for 150 miles away and just had to stop. My wife and I stopped here on our way to Savannah. I had stopped there as a kid and... more

I say once in a lifetime because we won't ever sleep there again. Mind you we love South of the Border and all of it's tacky brilliance, but that motel was creepy. We were on our honeymoon and when we called to make reservations were hoping to get one of the "honeymoon" suites we had seen on the old website.... more

Needing to stop for the night on the way to NY pulled into South of the Border to check it out. Stopped first for gas at one of South of the Border's gas pumps. Kids and wife went to the public rest rooms. Gas pumps were broken and filthy. Hand written signs in windows. Employees and what looked like vagrants... more

We stayed 2 days and nights. I had been before but not my husband so I wanted him to see it. Yes if you had been there in the past it has changed (but what hasn't). The room was spacoius and sparkling everyone was friendly and very courtious (like family). I had read previous reviews about "bugs" or "roaches". I... more

I didn't stay at the hotel, so I can't comment on it. But we did stop on our way down to Florida from PA. I must say the place seems run down, and seemed like a deserted town, and mind you, it was Saturday at about 5 p.m. We ate at the Sombreros Restaurant on our way to Florida. The... more

I don't know if it's the bad economy or just age. I've been stopping at SOB about 2-3 times a year for 20 years, mostly for the carport outside each room. They've been closing off sections of rooms and reopening other sections lately. Last week I stayed in the section behind the steak house. The carpet was damaged and the... more

I first passed through SOB back in 1969 as a college senior on my way to Florida; now 40 years later my wife and I spent a night there so we could tell our kids that we will never grow old ! We were surprised to find that our room was clean and comfortable(on Kings Row) although looking like something... more
