Mansfield Plantation is the most peaceful and quietest place I've ever been! Beautiful huge live oaks, marsh/river landscape, antique furnishings, guest rooms well furnished. Plantation house lovely, incredible woodwork everywhere, including guest rooms. Only drawback was no restaurant on premises..Georgetown several miles away with decent restaurants. Next time we'll bring a picnic hamper and take advantage of picnic table, under... More

We just spent one night in this B and B that is located on the Black River a few miles outside of Georgetown. We like to go places for photography and this is a jewel. Sunrise was spectacular over the river which is a few hundred feet from our building. There are three of the original buildings on the property... More

We really enjoyed ourselves on our quick weekend work free. Kathryn is an outstanding cook and wonderful host. We loved relaxing on the hammock even with the tour going on. The bikes are fun to take out and the grounds are beautiful. I would love to go back. Feel so good and a true adventure for sure.

Put this on your 'Must Stay' list. The house and rooms are perfect, the grounds are amazing, and the Inn Keep was terrific - what more do you need? How about a group of new friends sharing laughs (and wine) around the fire pit! I'm ready to go back!!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Mansfield. Very picturesque, private and quiet, and appealing to those who are seeking a quiet retreat with historical significance but who also want to sight-see and experience livelier local culture. Within easy driving distance of historic Georgetown proper (which is a great town to explore) and within decent driving distance (20 minutes or so) of... More

This was a beautiful place. Our room was very nice too with plenty of privacy. Something we did not see on any of the reviews before we went is that there is a paper mill or some other kind of smelly factory nearby and parts of the day the area had quite a strong odor. The breakfast was yummy, but... More

My wife and I booked the Middleton Room for one night in late May as part of a road trip. We only wished we'd stayed longer. This is truly a hidden gem. The setting on the bend of the Black River is stunning and you can live out your Gone with the Wind dreams sitting on one of the swings... More

We wanted to stay at a real southern plantation and Mansfield fit the bill. It's a wonderful place, straight out of history. The guest areas have been restored/reconstructed with an eye to history; the staff friendly and very helpful; the grounds unique. Would highly recommend it for at least an overnight stay. Also it's close to Georgetown, S.C., a hidden... More

This is an amazing B&B. I went with my husband and my brother and his boyfriend. Our trip was one of the most memorable I've even taken. As we approached the plantation, all of our mouths dropped open. The grounds are beautiful, the slave cabins are sobering, the rooms are charming and comfortable, and the breakfast will make you want... More

Spur of the moment we drove over from neighboring Charleston to find this suprise right in our own backyard. My husband and I are nature lovers and even though it had rained all day the property was still beautiful upon our late afternoon arrival. We stayed in a kitchen house room to be close to the water. We walked the... More
