We're snowbirds who have been coming to GCB for over 15 years. We've stayed at Atalaya Towers once before, but rented through a local realtor. This time we're renting through Defender Resorts, the time-share agency here and it's an entirely different experience. When we arrived we found a basket full of essentials like coffee filters, dish, dishwasher, and washer detergent,... More

View from the 6th floor was beautiful-falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves was wonderful! Roomy layout with the kitchen, dining and living areas all open. Nice touch in the Welcome Basket that contained “starter” items like a pack of detergent, a pack of dishwasher soap, dish towels, three trash bags, couple rolls of TP and... More

I have never stayed at a property so convenient to the ocean. When traveling with a bigger group and there are lots of chairs, umbrellas, kids toys, etc. the trek to the beach is dreadful. At Atalaya Towers as soon as you step off of the deck you are just yards from the ocean. Unlike some resorts of this age... More

Great place for a family vacation. Plenty of space for eating in or going out. Be prepared for really heavy traffic in the summer. The traffic is particularly heavy around Murrells Inlet; if possible avoid Mothers Day Weekend which is bikers week in Murrells Inlet, unless you are a biker. There are several good places to visit in the area... More

We rather enjoyed our week at Atalaya Towers. We stayed in Room 1504 During the first week of July. I had read other reviews here and was a bit wary of what to expect. I had read reviews of "elevators not working", "old rooms" and other things to be aware of. We rather enjoyed our week here though. Now listen,... More

My father has owned Unit 1105 in Atalaya Towers for the last 17 years. My family and I have gone every year for most of those 17 years and had a wonderful time. While I agree the building itself is not the newest his unit has all of the upgrades that make you feel right at home. The washer and... More

My father-in-law has a timeshare here so he goes every year. My husband and his siblings have been going here since they were young. I love going and taking our two boys. We are right on the beach and still close enough (but also far enough to not have to deal with the traffic and craziness) to the strip in... More

This was our first timeshare use. We own property in Hilton Head and through RCI this was our first exchange. THe front office is not great, and that would have fooled us. The surrounding common areas - pool hot tub, etc - were a bit grungy and the elevators were too. But take into account, the property is right on... More

We have owned a timeshare unit here for many years and love it. The property is a mixture of privately owned units and timeshare units; majority are private owners. You can purchase or rent a timeshare unit or rent from a private party. We have found that many list their units through Dunes Realty for the private owners and timeshare... More

My husband and I are retired and try to travel one week a month except in November and December. We own timeshares and either stay in our owned units or trade to other units through RCI. Whenever you trade units, you should always read reviews of previous visitors. In 10 years of travel, we've only been terribly disappointed once and... More
