Planning a mini-reunion, our family decided to meet in Florence, SC. None of us had ever been there, but the location was equally convenient for all concerned. After researching local hotels, including a call to the area Chamber of Commerce, I selected the Country Hearth Inn based mainly on price and availability. (Note that this motel was previously named the Park Inn International; I believe the Country Hearth Inn chain took it over in 2003.) We occupied three rooms here for two nights in July 2004 and were very disappointed. Although the price we paid was delightfully low--$40.00 per night for a double room, including full breakfast at the adjoining Horne's Country Buffet--and the staff were friendly and helpful, this place is an out-and-out dump. The rooms were clean enough, but the furnishings were as seedy and threadbare as I have ever seen at a mainstream establishment.
