Spent a night here recently while on a business trip to Columbia. This is a really neat little hotel - kind of quaint and definitely not a franchise style hotel. Not a place with a whole lot of amenities but a nice change from the normal, run of the mill. The location is really great - just up from Five... More

stayed December 13, 2014 The Inn At Claussen's is a great example of independent, non-franchised hotels done perfectly. There is a warmth and charm associated with this hotel that cannot be duplicated in the franchise system. Upon checking in, we were greeted with a warm smile, the type that says "welcome back home" even though this was our first time... More

The room was neat and clean on arrival, not far from the airport, Fort Jackson, and the city center. Came back to the hotel the second night and couldn't find the remote control, front desk brought down 2 to try. When I got into bed and discovered the remote between the sheets it was kind of a turn off to... More

Originally from Columbia, but now a resident of Idaho; when I need to visit Cola town, the only place to stay is The Inn at Claussen's. I've stayed at the Hilton, the Sheraton and numerous other hotels in the past but in the future, the only place I'll ever stay is at The Inn. I remember when it was Claussen's... More

We have been traveling to Columbia for 5 years and finally stayed at Claussens. Only wish we had stayed a lot sooner. Inn is beautiful. We stayed 3 nights. Staff could not have been nicer or friendlier. Our room was in front part of hotel. Lovely 4 poster bed. Huge bathroom. Very clean. Breakfast was delivered right on time. Enjoyed... More

Understaffed, the patio of our patio room consisted of a plastic lime green Adirondack chair and a concrete planter full of dead plants. They advertise a wine and cheese hour, it only showed up after we inquired where it was, the crackers were kept on the plate with the cheese and stored in the frig which resulted in soggy crackers.... I liked the area. For the comments that say this is a dicey neighborhood. That is not fair. 5 points is fine but just don't go too far east. One thing that was odd was the back door stayed open until 11 pm and then was locked. If you're a Ritz Carlton or Motel 6, it doesn't matter. The policy... More

The good stuff: Plenty of free parking, easy to find and good location for gigs at the Township Auditorium (a cab costs around $6 but it's only a mile to walk). Following a little snafu with our (confirmed) Expedia booking not appearing in their system, the girl at front desk made sure we got a room even though they were... More

We stop here on our way to Florida and are never disappointed..... Great location in a college town with restaurants we can walk to after a full day in the car!! Rooms are quaint and clean, more personal than a chain!! We had the pleasure of meeting Hunter this morning as we checked out..... A very personable young man! We... More

This was a really interesting old building with a stylish, comfortable lobby. Our room was very attractive with plenty of space and the super high ceiling made it seem even more spacious. Bathroom was clean, nicely designed and appointed. Front desk staff was very pleasant and efficient. We enjoyed both of the local restaurants they recommended, the Front Porch and... More
