Lovely place in a converted bakery. Spacious rooms. Best neighborhood to stay in in Columbia (Five Points - lots of restaurants, etc.). Short walk to USC. I highly recommend the restaurant next door (Mr. Friendly's). Very friendly staff. more

Lovely place in a converted bakery. Spacious rooms. Best neighborhood to stay in in Columbia (Five Points - lots of restaurants, etc.). Short walk to USC. I highly recommend the restaurant next door (Mr. Friendly's). Very friendly staff. more
Place looked and sounded great. Wonderful location in Five Points. Very good restaurant and bar attached. The $150/night price was over $200 after taxes and parking fees were added. Even with that had to park yourself in dismal and unsafe lot behind hotel. Sign said hotel guests must park in orange spaces or be towed, but no orange spaces. Rear... more
Friendly staff and close to everything. Loved the loft rooms with seperate bedroom upstairs. Great experience more
I've stayed at Claussen's many times over the years & it has always been a great experience. It is my favorite hotel in Columbia with an absolute perfect location! more
The Claussen's Inn has to be Five Points best Hotel. It is in a great location, you are right in the middle of Five Points with easy access to The University of South Carolina. The Hotel is walking distance to several great nightlife spots. The room was very clean and the service was excellent. The hotel has great southern charm... more
The hotel is extremely charming but nothing works - stayed in 2 different rooms. Conditions same in both. Internet is intermittent (mostly not), hot tub is and will stay broken, loft rooms are hot upstairs and freezing downstairs, bathroom tubs do not drain (water around your ankles), stiff towels/sheets, many burnt out light bulbs. Walls have considerable water damage and... more

The location is good, near a reasonable number of stores and restaurants. The hallways didn't really fit in with the niceness of the rooms - they... more
I stayed at the Clausen's Inn a few years ago while I was in town on a business function. The rooms are gorgeous.. they have a bed and breakfast appeal though the hotel is not. The service/staff was great (there were no college kids working staff as I see other reviewers complain about now). It IS right in the middle... more
Our November 2005 stay was in room was 110, a first floor non-smoking double with patio access. The room and bathroom were very clean -- decor / wallpaper was Laura Ashley-esque. There was a small table and two chairs in the room and the TV was in a pine cabinet. There was also a large storage closet in the room... more
Though the inside is somewhat nice, the outside is another story all together. However, Claussen's can not help what bloomed around the inn (i.e. the ghetto and a university). The parking is poor, and possibility of being towed exists, even with parking permit provided by the inn. Across the street is a local bar, an apartment complex and a starbucks.... more
