I stayed at this property for a work trip and found it "functional". Great views of the water. It's definitely one of the older properties in the area but pretty well maintained. The staff was friendly and the concierge level was exceptional. The downtown area is not within walking distance but just a short drive away. The only real negative... More

This renewed property is very nice, clean and comfortable, although the room was not as big as I expected. Good restaurant with a good lunch buffet "all-you-can-eat" for only 10 dollars ! Very friendly and professionnal staff. The only downside is that downtown Charleston is too far away to go by foot. More

We stayed here for two nights in December. The hotel fell well short of our expectations, however management did a good job making up for the shortcomings and we walked away satisfied with our concerns addressed. The most significant issue we ran into was noise from the hallway, you could hear it as though it was in your own room.... More

I stayed with my wife during the Rep. primaries and was pleased with everything. The lobby was brand new and the restaurant seemed very nice. Pros: nice free coffee, updated bathroom and shower, linens and pillows, quiet. Cons: Too far way to walk to the market and the real downtown Charleston, Parking isn't great, and wifi isnt free. Overall, it... More

I am Marriott Platinum Premier guest so I have stayed at a many Marriott properties over the years. I was only at the hotel for about 7.5 hours and that was enough. I could not wait to get out of the room and on my way. From the minute I walked in the back door of the hotel to walk... More

accessible rooms are undesirable - there was no vanity and old style single sink, no grab-bar next to toilet, the toilet was not ADA compliant with latest goverment standards - it was too low, and the walls were so thin and you could hear a convesation in the next adjoining room. i was inapropiately charged for a breakfast that was... I got stuck booking this hotel thru an outside site. On learning the hotel selection I was disappointed as I knew it wasn't historic district. Obviously, I will not be using that booking service ever again. Still, I wanted to like the hotel in spite of the location and make the best of it. Checking in went smoothly and when... More

This hotel is sort of bait and switch in the sense that it has a very nice lobby complete with spa water every morning. Also has a spacious and popular restaurant. However, when we got to our room on the 7th floor, I about nearly suffocated. There is NO CIRCULATION on the floor. It was stuffy and muggy. Once we... More

A friend & I recently stayed at the Charleston Marriott during a 4-day trip to take in the history, culture & culinary delights of Charleston. The Marriott staff and our accommodations were above excellent. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. Someone had locked the in-room safe with his/her personal 4-digit code, making it unusable. The... More
