This was by far the oldest building / hotel we have ever had the pleasure of staying at. The original structure was built in 1780 !!!! Our room even had gun ports high in the wall from the Civil War era. It was like living in a castle. The staff was over the top. Everyone was on their game and... More

We had a wonderful stay. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Great breakfast and nice evening reception. Would definitely come back again. Convenient to everything. Don't miss Ann Scott and her sweetgrass baskets in the lobby.

The hotel was nice but dated. The evening reception was terrific as far as beverages, but the appetizers were just ok. The breakfast selection was just ok, but they do offer individualized omelettes which I did not have.

Expensive, poor service, room dank and extremely over perfumed. We expected the staff or concierges to be helpful with area expertise and reservations. The concierges desk was not staffed and the front desk staff was unhelpful. I expect better from Embassy Suites in a tourist destination.

My husband and I did enjoy our three night stay at this hotel. The parking garage was just down the street and we always found ample parking there. The hotel has a beautiful lobby and our rooms were very spacious. We had a corner room and it was always No fault of the hotel, but the view we had was... More

Good location with a place in history! Really amazing to think this was the first Citadel. Beautiful lobby area with great breakfast in the morning. Good for a conference or just for a family getaway.

Let me start with the good side-the people are all very nice. While they did not execute well, they did try hard. And to her credit, the general manager reached out with what seemed like a heartfelt apology followings stay. When I arrived and got to my room, the first thing I noticed was no small table in front of... More

Choose this hotel for location and included breakfast; was not disappointed. Service all around was very good, from the car valet staff, to front desk, to bartender at happy hour, to breakfast crew, no problems and plenty of attentive care. Room was average and a bit dated. Two issues - avoid second floor rooms since the third floor hallway is... More

Good location. Rooms are expensive for the quality of the hotel--tired decor, breakfast included but quality of food while generous is not great. Comfortable beds. Rooms big enough for at least 3 if you choose the 2 bed option.

3 of us came to Charleston for a girl's trip. This hotel is in a good location. Breakfast and evening cocktails were a bonus. The hotel staff is superb. Shopping, eating, drinking, and some spa time is what a girl's trip is all about and Charleston certainly delivered. The bed was not comfortable but it sweetened the experience of coming... More
