Great location for this charming hotel; within walking distance of the College of Charleston and all the downtown historic center and actvities... Very charming hotel lobby to grab a drink and bite to eat at the end of your day!

Front desk needs retraining in customer care/relation/courtesy. One of the rooms that I booked was not ready, after arriving after 3: pm. Moreover, the young woman at the front desk didn't seem to care. I went back countless times to inquire about the room. She left on break or for the day and didn't even have the decency, or extend... We were told we would have 2 beds in our suite, but only had one bed and a worn out, cheap, very uncomfortable sofa bed as our second bed. The bathroom tile was very dirty. We paid approximately $350 for a $100 room. Our future visits to Charleston will not include the highly overpriced Embassy Suites.

Traveling with only 4 of 5 members of our family and stayed in king suite. Loved the value of this hotel-every evening happy hour for drinks and light snacks the whole family could enjoy. Took advantage of the large tables in the beautiful enclosed atrium to play board games together. Evening in the suites that are basically 4 areas allowing... More

My wife, and I stayed here during the Fourth of July this year. What a nice property. Enjoyed the ambience of an older property. The staff here is first class. We enjoyed several meals out at different restaurants in the area. The highlight of the trip was the last day visiting the farmers market on the adjoining Citadel parade ground.... More

After a week at Hilton Head, we went up to Charleston for this past weekend. We stayed at Embassy Suites in the Historic District even though costly. We choose this as we have stayed at many Embassy Suites before and love them. Also thought most of historic downtown would be walkable. Unfortunately for us, it really wasn't. The hotel was... More

We were staying for a couple of nights with family. We had several different rooms and ages of family members with us. We loved the location for easy access to Charleston. It was also nice to have a hot breakfast every morning. A very nice stay.

This is the second time we have stayed here. Hotel is close to restaurants on Upper King Street, not too far from shopping on King Street or attractions closer to Market Street downtown, and is adjacent to Marion Park where there is a farmer's market every Saturday morning. Rooms are spacious as is the inner courtyard with a fountain where... More

The location is absolutely perfect - walking distance from everything. Every single staff member was outstanding. SO friendly and accommodating. The lobby is beautiful, full of historic charm. The rooms themselves were average, nothing really special, but more than adequate and clean, and we had a great view of the park and the John C. Calhoun statue. We were also... More

Love the location of the hotel. Makes it easy to get around to all the historical spots in Charleston either by walking or taking the free Trolly transportation. The Embassy Suites rooms are great! With this building being an historical site (the first/original Citadel) its cool to have the brick walls with the gun ports still intact. The service was... More
