We chose to stay here during the off season. We were shocked by how bland the room was and the lack of the second "B." We were told a continental breakfast would be available in the morning. We were disappointed to hear it was not a hot, sit down meal. The following morning we showed up at the time we... More

Charlestown has so much history to offer so we wanted to stay somewhere that we could experience a piece of that history. What better place than the 1843 battery carriage house! Stepping into our room was like stepping back into time. Luckily we were given room 8. Which is where the headless torso has been sighted. Our little room was... More

The Inn is perfectly located South of Broad, between stately mansions, within walking distance of most of the historic sights - and you will want to walk in this beautifully preserved area. Ample free parking is available in the surrounding streets. Unfortunately, due to flood damage, the room we originally booked wasn't available, and they did let us know that... More

1843 Battery Carriage House Inn Bed & Breakfast is exactly what the name represents. Nestled between the main house (private) and the attached neighbors, sits a lovely two story building hidden in the back. Very serene with a little area to enjoy your breakfast or reading morning paper. The room I stayed in was wonderful. As a side note, inquire... More

We stayed one night in this ideal location in Charleston. Initially had a downstairs room, but it had a musty smell to it...front desk was very understanding and moved us to a second floor room which was much better. It would be a plus if the hotel would add bikes for its patrons.

We stayed here about 5 years ago and it seemed run down this time. Our room smelled so bad that we moved into another room the next night. Breakfast is only bagels and cereal. For $300 per night, not what I would expect. It has the history and character, just needs a lot of TLC to be worth the stay.

If you visit Charleston you HAVE to stay here! It is a little peace of heaven! From the house and gardens to the amazing staff, I decided I wanted to move in permanently! We were served a lovely breakfast of our choice and watched the early strollers. The Battery was across the street so it was so peaceful to watch... More

were wonderful1 i recently met up with an old friend in charleston, i had stayed at the carriage house, with great pleasure, 20 years ago on a visit with my daughter and decided to try it again for this visit to charleston. The magic is still there, maybe better because of the attentive, care-ful, personable staff that was even more... More

Wife and I spent the weekend here and was a great stay. Great location on the Battery. Stayed in room 3, had a setting area king bed and nice jaccuzi/shower. No view from this room, you'll want to stay upstairs for that. Breakfest was brought to our room each morning at a time of our choice. The people we encountered... More

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in 2011 and were eager to visit again. The staff was friendly, as always, and the wine/cheese and breakfast were fine. The biggest issue we had was the lack of maintenance. The bed was flimsy and actually broke and they was water dripping from the heat lamp in the shower (lots... More
