We were amazed at the soaring, heavily beamed lobby with all the beautifully framed paintings everywhere. It was a rainy chilly dy and there was a welcoming fire going. Our room was spacious and well appointed. Wine and cheese was a nice amenity and the continental breakfast was good with fresh fruit, muffins, French toast sticks and sausage as well... More

We loved staying here. The architecture of the building was so interesting, and the hotel was close to the waterfront and restaurants. We enjoyed wine & cheese before dinner, and the continental breakfast the next day was good. The staff could not have been nicer, and we loved our room! It was beautiful, spacious and comfortable.

There are lots of choices for hotels in Charleston and like all of our trips, I relied heavily on TripAdvisor reviews to help me make my lodging choice. After staying there, I echo the many other highly positive reviews written about the Ansonborough Inn. Its convenient yet quiet downtown location, ample parking (a huge perk in Charleston!), courteous and professional... More

I agree completely with the other reviewer that said this hotel is a mixed bag. The architecture and ambiance is pretty neat, the location is stellar, and the idea of repurposing buildings is great. We also have had no problems with the staff. The gentleman that checked us in was super helpful and pleasant, and gave us some good dinner... More

The Ansonborough is a Beautiful inn with a combination of comfortable and period furnishings. Love the exposed beams. The staff are friendly and accommodating. And it's a perfect location for exploring downtown Charleston. Well worth the money.

We had stayed at the Ansonborough during the 2013 holiday season and had a less-than-perfect stay (reviewed March 16, 2014). In planning a visit in December of 2014, the Ansonborough had such glowing reviews we decided to give it another try. It could not have been nicer - very comfortable bed, excellent amenities, great staff - so glad we went... More

I don't think I can say enough good things about this place. The rooms are unique with tons of character. The staff were very friendly. The location is great for exploring Charleston on foot. Can we talk free wine and cheese hour? And the price is amazing, particularly when compared to the more expensive options a few blocks away. I've... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in early January. The location is easy to find and while parking is not directly attached to the hotel, it is only just across the street and well lit at night. There appears to be plenty of police patrols in the area as well. Note: the location is close to the cruise ship terminal, which... More

Our stay at the Ansonborough was perfect. Staff really went out of their way for us on everything: booked car service, carriage ride, taxi. When we needed to move rooms they transported our belongings, fridge contents, and pack and plays, setting everything up in the new room while we were out enjoying the day. The location is great, just a... More

We've stayed at the Ansonborough probably 10 times in 5 years and there is truly nothing negative to say! Really neat interior of a renovated warehouse with huge beams everywhere and filled with original art. Rooms are 2-3 times larger than any chain hotel, equipped with everything one needs including wonderfully comfortable beds. Outstanding staff will do absolutely anything to... More
