Modern, architect award winning Inn, is a place to visit all of its own. Plantation shutters cover floor to ceiling windows which lead out to a woods-view or river-view, and your accommodations are sparse and quaint allowing you to fully enjoy the peace and quiet the Inn offers. The adjacent Middleton Place Plantation admission is included in the room rate, as is your full breakfast and evening reception. more » « less

The Inn at Middleton Place was beautiful. There was a lodge where everyone could go and hang out, play board games, and have a few free drinks every night at happy hour! My favorite was the giant chess table on the lower level. There is also free breakfast every morning for those who stay at the Inn. The rice feilds... more

Several weeks ago we had the pleasure of staying at the Inn at Middleton Place in Charleston. What a delight! Anyone with a knowledge of modern architecture will truly appreciate the Middleton Inn and its award winning design. We loved the contrast between the historic plantation and the modernism that is the Inn. We had great service and especially enjoyed... more

If you are a hip, young, urbane student of avante garde architecture, you will love the hotel and hate the adjacent plantation. If you a supporter of the preservation of our nation's history, one who gets a thrill at walking in the footsteps of our forefathers, you will love the plantation and hate the hotel. The hotel rooms are "austere"... more

The Inn at Middleton Place is one of those properties that is a bit out of the ordinary stream, a destination in itself so to speak. There's a bit of MPD about the place. There are nods to contemporary, sybaritic luxury: fluffy bathrobes; "artisanal" handsoaps that smell like orange blossom; oversize, sunken bathtubs with "artisanal" bath salts and slinky-feeling body... more

If you are a nature lover, this is the place for you. Or if you are boarding your horse in the nearby stables, you might want to stay here. There were flys/spider webs in the bathtub and around the corners. The furniture/bedspread seems to be old. It really did not seem very clean. Outside, I saw poison ivy vines everywhere.... more

After having twins, my husband and I needed a getaway just to enjoy each other. There are no bells and whistles. If you are looking for a fast pace...this is not the place for you. But, if you are looking for a relaxing getaway, then this is the best we have found. We have traveled to many inns and nice... more

This hotel is in a great location on the banks of the Ashley River next door to the Middleton Place Plantation. Staying at the hotel allows full access to the Plantation for both travelers. They also offer a full hot breakfast included in the price of the room. It was cold when we visited so we enjoyed that there was... more

We stayed at Middleton Place Inn last year Dec 30 and New Year's Eve and loved it. I'm from the Charleston area and know that the weather is nicer in Dec than in the summer. And it certainly was lovely last year - in the 50s-70s. We were outside alot. Inn guests can go on the plantation grounds at any... more

The Good News: If you are looking for an Inn that is located adjacent to a beautiful Southern Plantation, steeped in history with gardens that are very beautiful in their various seasonal blooms. And if you are looking for a 250+ year old lifestyle experience with 'modern' day accommodations. Then this may be the Inn for you. If you are... more

My family and I spent one night at the Inn at Middleton place this month, in a room on the ground floor. The hotel is considered an inn, so do not look for fancy service and luxury items. It has a remarkable architecture, with large windows overlooking the forest and the Ashley river, it feels as if the room is... more
