We stayed at the Market Pavillion for our vacation...based on it's 4-star rating and learning of the pool & bar/restaurant on the roof. While Charleston is a historic town... the Market Pavillion Hotel's decor appeared a bit out-dated for our taste. The furniture in the room was older, armoire doors were hard to close possibly due to the humidity (which... More

Beautiful surroundings, elegant linens, relaxing room decor and gracious staff--all resulted in a wonderful experience. I would suggest you stay on the concierge floor-- free breakfast, afternoon tea and a cocktails. The ambience was of the old south and is certainly lacking in most hotels today The rooftop bar, with a view of the city, should not Be missed. Food... More

If you are looking for a place to get some relaxation, that the best hotel ever you can stay in. The concierge level is a must Lucy was exceptional. The hotel is lovely, beautifully decorated and the restaurant 225 is very good and we enjoyed the service provided. However, the staff at reception could have cared less that we were there and when we had to leave rather suddenly, a day before we were meant to leave because our dog became very ill and had to be put to... This was my first time staying at the Market Pavilion Hotel. I can only say great things about this hotel. The bellmen were polite and always eager to help. When we checked in the front desk girls had smiles and were very nice. The concierge, Susanne, was wonderful in helping us plan our days and her dining recommendations were delicious.... More

We stayed at the Market Pavilion Hotel during our most recent trip to Charleston. We usually stay at the Planters Inn but wanted to try to Market Pavilion for their rooftop pool. That part of the hotel is lovely (and small) but it does not make up for the difference in service we receive when staying at the Planters Inn.... More

The concierge rooms on the fourth floor have a parlor which serves hot breakfast, afternoon tea and cocktails before dinner. We thought the rooftop bar and pool were nice and service was good. I imagine it is overcrowded at other times of the year, but it seemed to be mostly hotel guests during our stay in late August. There were... More

PROS: Location: You can't beat it. It's situated right next to the city market and one block away from highly-recommended restaurants High Cotton, Slightly North of Broad, and Magnolias. The restaurants on King Street are a little bit farther, so we decided to take a rickshaw. It cost $10-15 one way, but it's a fun experience, and the driver will... More
