This hotel is centrally located and was a good launch point for all destinations over our 3 day stay. But the highlight was Kevin McQuade, an exceptionally knowledgeable concierge. He took our basic wish list of interests and turned it into an incredible itinerary. He also took his own time to give us a guided tour of Charleston hidden gems... More

I attended a conference this past August at the Francis Marion Hotel, but rather than staying there I decided to stay at the Courtyard which is only a block away across Marion Park. My wife and I had stayed at the Holiday Inn two years ago on a trip to Charleston and had used Kevin McQuade's services as concierge. The... More

My daughter and I had planned an extended weekend getaway, and actually had reservations at another hotel. Fortunately, I checked this site and read several amazing reviews about this hotel as well as its Chief Concierge, Kevin. The reviews were so postitive that I changed my plans and booked at this Marriott Courtyard instead. And thank heavens I did --... More

Dear GinnyT... Thank you for your review... It makes me excited just to read of your experience... and I can just see Kevin lying down in the middle of the street to take your picture ... it brings up thoughts of the movie "Dear John" which was filmed largely in part here in Charleston.... I wish I had a picture... More

You could opt for one of the B&B's downtown - if you have a budget equal to the Pentagon. For the rest of us, Courtyard Marriott - Historic District is perfect. The staff are happy to cater to business and family vacations equally. Everyone treated us with courtesy and a helpful attitude. The rooms have a new temp control system... More

Your reveiw was so helpful by confirming the great team we have here at the Courtyard Historic District .. I was able to use it in our morning stand up session to show the staff that EVERY team member makes a difference in our guests experience here... While Kevin does go the extra mile in his research and efforts to... More

As a first time visitor to Charleston I had no idea where to stay or what to do when we got there. I had some Marriot points so I randomly selected this property. Let me begin that on my way south I thought I,d break up the trip by stopping at Charlotte. It was only 1:30 as I approached Charlotte... More

We went to Charleston for our first time over Christmas, 2011. We normally stay in Marriott's when traveling on business. But when reading about this hotel and its location, we decided to try it for this leisure trip. The newly renovated hotel was very nice--a step above other courtyards we've stayed at. However, the thing that made our trip so... More

The hotel is very well appointed. The concierge Kevin McQuade is fantastic! All of his recommendations were "right on". Great restaurants, and so much more were explained to us, and all of the information was very helpful. We had a tour with Ed Macy, a Charlestonian with an incredible wealth of information and all delivered with great ease during his... More

We stayed here a couple of nights the week between Christmas and New Year's. The location is great--close to Charleston Museum, King Street and on the free bus route. I had hoped to talk to the concierge but he was busy every time I saw him at his desk.

This is a good property. It's a pretty standard Courtyard but rates highly due to it's location which is a short, pleasant walk to the historic district. The rooms are nice, the lobby is very good and has a bar and the service is exceptional. The parking is tight and limited and it seemed excessive to have to pay $14... More

Had a great experience at the Courtyard Charleston Historic District in early December 2011. The hotel has a great location (walking distance to about anything) and is recently renovated. It was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. It was my first trip to Charleston and honestly picked the hotel based on the recommendations from this website (location and... More
