The unpleasure experience started when I arrived at the door on the first day... This hotel is right by the street. Yes, I mean there is even no parking or driveway at the front door. The steps and the door are right besides the street. No parking. Fine. But at least there should be a sign to show where the... More

We recently went to Charleston to celebrate my birthday and my husband suggested the Mills House. It was right in the downtown historic district walking distance to good restaurants and shopping. We loved the central market place only a couple of blocks away. Lots of local souvenirs, from paintings to cookies. A definite must see. Lot's of good restaurants. The... More

This is a first class hotel, very well maintained and operated and in an outstanding location. As noted by other reviewers, the room (including especially the bathroom) was a bit small by modern standards, but that should be expected in an historic property. It was nicely furnished, decorated, and equipped and the bedding was very comfortable. Our room on the... More

Charleston is a magnificently historic city with beautiful churches, varied attractions and incredible food, but do not go to Charleston unless you stay at the Mills House Hotel. Not only is it in the center of everything, but it reflects the very soul of Charleston, from its history to its Rainbow Row. The minute we walked into the hotel room... More

My husband and I stayed here for three nights right before Christmas. We had a wonderful experience here! The staff was wonderful, very helpful and always friendly. The hotel was beautiful, very elegant and nicely decorated for Christmas. Our room was on the 7th floor (free soda machine!). It was small, but comfortable. The location is hard to beat! We... More

This would have been my second time staying at this location. The first time made me deem this hotel "One of the best/nicest hotels I have ever stayed at in the SE" My last trip, eh, not so much. The lady that checked us in was VERY nice and pleasant. We did Valet parking and I am 99.99% sure I... More

We stayed at the Mills House for two nights. First, we didn't know what to expect, as it came up as Holiday Inn, but then it was also 4 stars... Booked it via Hotwire and got a great rate. Service at check-in was quick and corteous. We got a room with a king size bed on the 6th floor. Yes,... More

We made last minute reservations the week after Christmas at the Mills House and it was great! We have been to Charleston many times, but had never stayed here. It was in a great location and very convenient to everything. The Christmas decorations in the lobby were very pretty. We were given complimentary drinks, so we after cocktails before dinner.... We've stayed in several other hotels/ B&B's in Charleston but overall we felt the Mills House was the best. We found it to be the perfect combination of location, affordability (Less than $280 per night), southern charm, elegance, and hospitality. We do a lot of walking and sight seeing while in Charleston so for us location is key. The Mills... More
