4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I received an email 24 hours before leaving that the bar and restaurant were closed for renovations. They said they would have a managers reception each evening in the lobby and a continental breakfast in the mornings. We arrived shortly after 4 pm and were told our 2 rooms were not ready. We waited and decided to have a drink... More

I just finished a 28 day stay in three different rooms at this Renaissance. First, the rooms are dated and showing their wear and tear. This is probably just the case across Charleston, with constant full-bookings and not enough hotel rooms to support all the tourists. I hear the condition of the Hilton Embassy Suites are very similar. I'm not... More

We stayed here for the weekend, and whilst the hotel itself was fine, pretty much what you would expect from a Marriott hotel, when we got our car back from the valet at the end of the stay, we found dog hairs all over the passenger seat, radio station changed, the car exterior was muddy, and about a third of... Warm welcome by staff. Told me that reconstruction was underway which I already knew as they had emailed me about no restaurant and only a limited continental breakfast being available due to construction. room was very comfortable and good size. Hotel very quiet. Breakfast was quick and adequate. Checkout easy. Wi-fi free for Marriott Rewards Gold and those booking on... More

Two of us stayed here on our recent trip to Charleston and it was wonderful! Great, convenient location - walkable to almost everything we wanted to do! Very clean, modern with great amenities. Each day they offer a different complementary snack/happy hour from 4:30pm - 6:30pm in the lobby. The room rates also include a continental breakfast. The only negative... More

This hotel is a terrific location for walking all over the peninsula. The housekeeping and front desk staff are very good. Be prepared for heavy traffic in the downtown area and be prepared to park in the garage which is across the street. (Even for self-parking, there will be multiple taxes on both that charge and the room.) We are... More

My wife and I stayed here to celebrate her birthday and Valentine's Day. When we checked in, we used the valet service to park our car--it was great to not have to find a parking space in this congested area. Check-in is efficient, and the hotel staff is helpful and friendly. The hotel was in the process of remodeling during... More

This is a very nice stay. We were in room 310 on the Hassell St. side. Very quiet as opposed to the busy Wentworth St. side. Also, we had a nice balcony to sit on, balconies on 3rd floor only. Fresh am Starbucks in lobby a nice compliment. Great location within blocks of all downtown activity. Superb valet parking for... More

I found this property to be well run, friendly and attentive staff, great service. I had lunch at the grill upon my arrival and could not be more pleased with our server. She was so nice and very friendly, tending to us as we wrapped up a business meeting. The room was perfect and fit my needs. The bathroom was... More

I am extremely familiar with Charleston and was in town to attend 35th college reunion from Medical University of SC! I would not have chosen to stay here when choosing hotels but did bidding on Priceline and got a VERY good rate! Stayed here 2 nights! Check in went ok ... Given an "upgrade" to room 328 which was a... More
