This has got to be one of the poorest value for money hotels going. Apart from the main lobby, the common areas are tatty, there are stained carpets in the room corridors, chipped paint on the woodwork etc its all a bit shabby. The front desk staff are very helpful but otherwise, training is required! One day the room wasn't... More

Our fifth trip to Charleston and first to this hotel. Husband is Marriott gold. We paid for rooms, not on points. Hotel is tired, tired, tired....the rooms and hallways desperately need updating. The tv did not even have a good signal so we could not watch. Noisy because of no sound insulation around doors and the housekeeping staff is banging... More

I travel to Charleston on business regularly and always stay at this hotel. It is quiet, comfortable and convenient to everything. Service is polite and professional without being intrusive. Rooms are immaculate. I like the large desk with convenient plugs and chargers. My only criticism in the past - which usually didn't matter on my trips there - is that... More

The hotel is in the heart of the retail area just a half block from King street. It's a bit of a hike to the market and restaurant zones. Self parking across the street was fine. The room was comfortable but it needed some work particularly in the bathroom where the grout is old, peeling and stained. The staff were... More

Thank you very much for staying with us and for offering your feedback. I'm glad that you enjoyed partnering with our team of Ambassadors but I want to apologize for the condition of your bathroom grout. After you alerted me to the issue, I inspected it myself and agree that it was not up to standard. On Monday, we removed... More

We had 2 rooms, 617 and 410 (bigger than 617). Both were quiet and comfortable. We rode the bikes (there were 3) early one morning down to waterfront park. It was a nice ride and beautiful park/greenway. We did a carriage ride, which was great. We could walk to Hymans (loved it!). Our room had 2 double beds and a... More

The location in downtown Charleston is phenomenal. The check-in experience was a bit lacking as they tried to charge me for parking and for breakfast, though my rate included it. I was able to finally convince them to check their computer and after about 10 minutes, they fixed it (it was 11:45pm). Parking is okay across the street but the... More

This was a last minute getaway for us as were in Hilton Head for the week and decided to go to Charleston during our vacation. The hotel is in a great location with several great dining options near by or within walking distance. The hotel to us was great, The person that checked us in was friendly and efficient, but... I hate to write a bad review, especially after a great visit to my new favorite city, but let's just say things did not go smoothly from the get-go, and the hotel, at least the front of the house, is understaffed (or was when we were there). Some nice, well meaning folks, but not a well run operation. First, one... More

My mother, two younger sisters and I all stayed at the Renaissance in the Charleston Historic District. It's central location allowed us to hop from museum to museum, on to historical homes and the nearby waterfront. Restaurants and shops added to the enjoyment of our experiences there. We were on a quest to dig up family history from the time... More
