We stayed at the Governor's House Inn for two nights. The room was very nice and clean and the staff was most helpful. The evening wine and cheese was very good quality and the breakfast was surpurb. We enjoyed our stay but I think the price was a bit high.

The best in Charleston, period. The charm, location, and history of the Inn is only eclipsed by the attentiveness of the wonderful staff. From the moment they greet you, to your final goodbye, they make you feel as though you are part of an extended family. Our latest visit to Charleston was in early December. We stayed at the Governor’s... More

Our booked hotel had an emergency , was temporarily closed and failed to inform us that our reservation was void. In a strange city nearing midnight, without a place to stay, we scrambled by cell phones to find a hotel. Mary at the Governor's House Inn literally answered our prayers by guaranteeing she WOULD find us somthing for the night.... More

During our very recent visit to Charleston, SC, my husband and I booked a suite at The Governor's Inn. We went through the Select Registry as we have been more than pleased with our stays through them. Upon our arrival, there was no one to greet us as we entered the Inn. We sort of walked around the main floor... More

As General Manager of the Governor's House Inn, I would like to thank our recent guests, Bowers1, for their feedback. We have identified areas of concern and are working to correct them for the future. I also would like to apologize for not accommodating them in the manner they expected from a Select Registry Inn. As evidenced by other comments... More

Great Inn, great breakfast, great guests, great atmosphere....well worth it....if only to sit on a piazza (gorgeous porche) or in front of the fire place.....best of all the place is consistent - same standards two years running.

If you are looking for a place to stay during your visit to Charleston, look no further than the Governors House Inn. The location is optimum for walking the Historic District. The Inn itself is beautiful and welcoming. Lot's of old, historic homes have that dark, ponderous feeling but not the Governors House. It is bright, roomy and cheerful. The... More

My husband and I have stayed in many B&B's throughout the South, and the Governor's House Inn is our new hands down favorite. We stayed one night in the Christopher Suite (the first floor of the kitchen house) and four nights in the Middleton Suite (second floor in the main house). Both rooms were elegant yet very comfortable. There were... More

My husband and I travelled from Toronto to Atlanta and then headed over to Charleston. We booked our stay at Governor's House Inn based on Trip Advisor recommendations and we were not disappointed. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Dee Ann, with a nice chilled glass of white wine and unsweetened peach tea for my husband. She gave... More

We would definitely recommend the Governor's House Hotel to any travelers. Delicious breakfasts and afternoon snacks, free wireless throughout the house, beautiful rooms and porch to lounge on, fairly central location (comfortable walking distance to most parts of the city) with excellent parking. The only downside we could come up with is that the TV in our room was super... More

The Governor's House met and exceeded all my/our expectations. The parking is great, the location is central, the hostesses were fantastic, the food delicious and not to mention tea time (with wine) begins promptly at 4:30. An easy choice for a Charleston stay. We stayed in St Michales room and were very pleased.
