We just spent a delightful three nights in one of the nicest inns we've ever visited. Friendly staff, comfortable beds, spotless everywhere, excellent breakfasts, afternoon wine and tea, an inn cat....what's not to like. Then there's the superb location right along Broad St with easy access to everything in downtown Charleston yet perfectly quiet at night. I imagine one could... More

It was truly like sleeping in a museum. Our room was in the attic and we walked up very creaky stairs to get there. But before checking in, we were given a tour of the public rooms and a history lesson. It was the home of South Carolina's first Governor, Rutledge. The staff was more than helpful in making reservations,... More

Excellent and friendly staff, great location and lovely house! The breakfast and afternoon tea served bring a special touch of southern flavor to the stay. Definitely recommend this inn, especially for couples and romantics in general.

Stayed for 3 nights in December. The Inn was decorated for Christmas and looked lovely. There was a large Christmas tree in the entrance foyer. We were very warmly welcomed by Victoria who is a true gem and an asset to the Inn. Supplied us with a map which she went through explaining all the places to visit. Our room... More

My wife and I ventured down to Charleston for our first visit and were fortunate enough to get a room at the Governor's Inn. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in suggesting areas to visit. We enjoyed the afternoon tea shortly after checking in and had a wonderful time visiting with other guests as it is held in a... More

Stayed at the Governor's House Inn last year - frankly a bit disappointed as it is not as good as some of the reviews would suggest. We stayed in the kitchen block in one of the suites - certainly very private but not always very clean, eg a full ashtray was left outside the door until we asked for it... More

We could not have stayed at a better place in Charleston. My husband and I arrived at the exact time of check-in, and the staff had everything prepared and ready to go for our stay in the Wagner room. This was our first time in the Holy City, and the lady on duty provided us with a map and circled... More

My husband and I had a terrific stay at the Governor's House. We loved the location- walking distance to all the sights of historic Charleston, but not at the crowded, busy part. The inn was beautiful and maintained perfectly. The staff was all friendly and very accommodating. Breakfasts were superb- eggs Benedict one morning and Bananas Foster French toast the... More

Elegant and charming may describe the inn but the warmth and friendliness of the staff down to "New", the house cat were the real treats. Never have we stayed somewhere where such attention to detail was evident and I can honestly say we will always come back to stay at the Governor's House Inn.

The Governors House Inn is a really beautiful, restored bed and breakfast in the heart of Charleston. It's like a mansion, with gorgeous living spaces and large bedrooms and bathrooms, all very charming and well-done. Wood paneling, fireplaces, grand staircases. It was decorated for Christmas, which made it extra special. You get to see what it's like to live in... More
