Our experience with the Governor's House Inn could not have been better. What an elegant place to stay in such a wonderful city. The location is quiet but a quick walk to everything, the room was beautiful, the food was great, and our hosts were charming. We can't wait to return!

I'm late in posting this review, but my husband and I had the best time relaxing here on our anniversary getaway this past summer. We stayed in one of the lower level rooms which had our own separate entrance from the main house and it was perfect. We booked last minute and it was the only room left for the... More

The inn is welcoming and beautiful. my boyfriend and I stayed on a short planned trip in January earlier this year. We found the location to be prime near many restaurants and sights that we didn't really use our car. The afternoon tea/wine and treats were a nice touch too! Our room had a nice view of St Michaels and... More

The Governor's House is a beautiful historic inn in Charleston. Conveniently located, it is ideal for walking the historic district. The staff, especially Brian, were very friendly and welcoming. They will provide dinner suggestions and make reservations. The house is a true historic home having been the residence of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. We spent... More

This is a beautifully restored large home with fine furnishings and attention to detail. The hospitality was very accommodating and eager to help in any way possible. The breakfast was nothing short of spectacular, and the extras such as sherry in one of the rooms and a daily afternoon tea and treats (wine, tea, various pastries) was just wonderful. The... More

You will first be impressed by the beauty of this Inn with it's spacious ceilings, glamorous dining room, and comfy piazza. My husband & I stayed here for five nights in the Magnolia Room, #7. The large staff is very attentive and they truly cared about how we were enjoying their beautiful city. Each morning the breakfast was delicious and... More

We stayed at the lovely Governor's House Inn for our Honeymoon last year after a July 4th Savannah Wedding @ the President Quarters Inn. Having met at our jobs as state employees our theme was a Patriotic one...so where else would we spend our honeymoon but the Governor's House Inn in the Independence Room. The bed was so comfy, two... More

My husband and I stayed in the Independence Room 4 nights in mid-September 2014. We are in our 60's, have done world travels and this Inn provided one of our best experiences. We really enjoyed historic Charleston. The location of the Inn is excellent, we walked to everything, even as far as the Visitor's Center and beyond. Broad St. is... More

The Governor's House Inn is an outstanding B&B in Charleston. Built by Edward Rutledge, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, in 1760, it is beautiful; and let me tell you, the breakfasts are outstanding! You can eat in you room, outside on the porch, or in the dining-room and meet some interesting folks. We had a great... More
