My husband and I just spent an amazing evening at the Governors House Inn. We have a one year old at home and needed a romantic night with just the two of us....and the Governors House was just right. We were greeted by Theresa and was shown to our room. The Rutledge Suite.... BEAUTIFUL! We had a huge king size... more

We always left by the front door so people could see us leave. I was raised in Charleston, SC. I love Charleston with all its wonderful quirks and oddities. It is like no other place on Earth, almost surreal. For a true taste of this wonderfully eccentric city, stay at The Governor's House Inn. Enjoy feeling patriarchal. The accomodations are... more

While getting married in Charleston we choose the Governor's House to stay in. We couldn't have been more pleased. Just being my wife and I it gave us a being at home feel. We loved having breakfast on the beautiful porch and the area it was located in was perfect. Knowing this was a very special time for us the... more

We stayed at the Governor's House for 4 nights. Because we made our reservations at the last minute, we stayed in 3 different rooms. They moved our suitcases to the new room each day. They were extremely helpful and proactive in making dinner reservations for us, especially since it was during Spoleto. We walked to and from the Spoleto events,... more

I wanted so much to love this inn. We booked for a special birthday at a substantial rate ($500 per night). The good: the public rooms are beautiful. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean (except for one comment on the bathroom). I liked the location - my husband would have perferred to be up... more

We just stayed at the Governor's House at the end of May and loved everything about it. What a beautiflul house that has been restored with every attention to detail. The rooms in the house were exquisitely decorated and there was not a single thing that looked run down or shabby like some other B&Bs we have stayed in. While... more

After researching many B & B's and hotels in Charleston, I decided on the Governor's House Inn. It was a perfect choice! Everything was very nicely done. They have free offstreet parking and a delicious breakfast every morning. We were never there for afternoon tea. We arrived in the afternoon and were offered a glass of wine and a tour... more

The breakfast that was so delicious was able to be delivered to our room each morning. the staff was so helpful with directions and reservations. We stayed in the St. Michael's room, so charming and the view of the steeple was great. The history of this... more

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights at the Governor's House Inn. It was perfect. We stayed at the Jefferson Suite (upper floor of the Kitchen House) and liked especially the porch with the comfy wicker furniture and the nice view of the neighboring garden. This was a very private setting. We didn't rent a car and didn't miss... more

We splurged for a 4 night stay for our wedding anniversary. The location of the Governor's Inn is perfect, if you want to be away from the main tourist area, and in a quieter location. We stayed in the Barbados room which is tucked away in a private area in this romantic inn. It was luxuriously decorated and we felt... more
