Our stay at the Governor's House Inn (circa 1760) was truly spectacular from the moment we arrived! We were graciously greeted by Linda with a smiling face and cold refreshing peach sweet tea to quench our thirst. Our room "The Rutledge Suite" is gorgeous and the private balcony was a wonderful place to read. Chef Martin (Marty) prepared delicious breakfasts,... More

My wife and I spent four nights at this lovely and historic inn on Broad Street, Charleston. It's name derives from its 18th century occupancy be Governor Edward Rutledge, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and host to President Washington in 1791. The hosts were charming and gracious, the breakfasts and afternoon teas very tasty and both the other... More

This is a historic home, a nationally registered historical landmark that has been fully and completely updated. It is stunningly beautiful inside and out, perfectly located to explore Charleston on foot, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The owner/manager, Paul, is always on site, very hands on in seeing to it that all guests are fully satisfied at... More

Southern hospitality in abundance. From the moment we pulled into the carpark (one of the guys who was just coming in to start work helped us unload our car) we were looked after by the wonderful Governors House staff. A freshly cooked breakfast special was served every morning around a huge table where guests had the opportunity to discuss their... More

We came to Charleston to celebrate our wedding anniversary and based on a wonderful experience 5 years prior decided to stay again at the Governor's House Inn. It had been some time since our previous visit and we really weren't sure what to expect other than we knew what room we wanted, the Barbados. Our mission for the next two... More

We visited the Inn over the Easter Weekend 2015. I was not disappointed with the choice of Inns in Charleston. The location is superb and the History of the Inn is amazing. The appointments are exceptional. The staff is first rate, and the food was very, very good. You pay for what you get, and you get it all here.Here... More

I absolutely love Charleston, SC! Which means I love Governors House Inn! They have been most accommodating to my changing work schedule (which meant changing my reservation multiple times) and ultimately welcoming me and my 3 children (10, 13, 14). We stayed in the main floor suite of the kitchen house (sleeps 4). I am extremely grateful to introduce my... More

We spent 2 nights starting on Valentine's Day. We had a terrific time and everything was just lovely from the greeting at the door by Brian to breakfast with Angela. The room, food, afternoon tea and information regarding the history of the house was outstanding. Truly wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back!

From the moment we stepped in this magnificient house, we knew we had selected the right place for our 7 days stay. Little did we know at that point that everything would go upward from that point on, sky high. And pretty high were our expections from the many reviews we had read about The Governor's House Inn. This gorgeous,... More

We only had one night to spend here on our way back to NY from Florida, and sadly we had some car troubles, so we got here late and left the next morning, but what a stay!! It was amazingly beautiful, friendly and delicious!! Olivia waited late for us, and couldn't have been more gracious - or funny!! She is... More
