The staff, especially Angela and Storm, were fabulous! The inn is beautiful; however, it truly does disappoint with stained bedding and linens, fabric on stools, stopped up drains, etc., especially for the price! Breakfast was always fabulous, as were the other guests with whom we had the opportunity to dine and have evening wine and cheese. I cannot compliment the... More

Well, I went in June because I had never been to Charleston. Loved the city. I splurged on this bed and breakfast and was disappointed. The furnishings and finishes in my room just seemed worn (frayed sheets, towels) and the decor, dated (fake marble sink, peeling wall paper, ordinary toiletries, dusty porch furniture considering it was busy/busy, tiny t.v.). I... More

This is one of the best B & B's we have stayed at. Charleston is great anyhow but Governor's house inn has such a great southern charm to it. Our room was on the top floor and had a great view of the back of the property. The food was amazing and the staff was very friendly.

My daughter and I stayed for 5 nights in this lovely old inn. We were greeted by a young man who was very helpful and carried our suitcases to the third floor for us (Tico.) All of the employees were very friendly and willing to give us directions, make reservations etc. I would like to give an extra special credit... More

Well first of all THANK YOU for such great kudos to my amazing staff. Yes Krista is the talker, Tico is the charmer and Ben is wise beyond his years ( I always tell him he'll probably be president one day), our latest addition to the family is a very talented local actor, Storm, a charmer as well. I know... More

Magnificent home with a wonderful and very accommodating staff. The afternoon tea was excellent as were the breakfasts on the porch. The Inn was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see.

Stayed here for three nights for our anniversary and did not want to leave! Perfect location and more than reasonably priced for the amenities and ambience. Our highlights were enjoying wine and cheese on the veranda, "New" the house cat, the staggering period furnishings and overall beauty of the property, and the accommodating staff. We stayed in the independence room.... More

My husband and I spent a honeymoon weekend here and we couldn't have asked for a better stay! We arrived late in the evening and were greeted by the staff on arrival. They even offered us a glass of wine! Though my husband was sceptical of our 'basement' floor room, it was absolutely beautiful! Our room was spacious and included... More

We stayed here for my birthday and were made to feel welcome from the moment we stepped in. All of the staff were friendly and asked daily about our activities and plans. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We stayed in the Barabados Room and I highly recommend this room... More

My wife and I recently returned to Charleston after six years and had chosen Governor House as a great central location on Broad Street. What a great place to stay. This is such a well maintained historic house that I would chose it again for our next visit. This house is most famous as the the house of Edward Rutledge... More

I can't say enough about this beautifully, charming Inn. Every member of the staff went out of their way to not only answer questions like "do you have the number for a pedi-cab?" but actually calling them for you, "where can I get some ice for the room?" and actually getting it for you! I called to let them know... More
