My husband and I stayed in the Independence Room 4 nights in mid-September 2014. We are in our 60's, have done world travels and this Inn provided one of our best experiences. We really enjoyed historic Charleston. The location of the Inn is excellent, we walked to everything, even as far as the Visitor's Center and beyond. Broad St. is... More

The Governor's House Inn is an outstanding B&B in Charleston. Built by Edward Rutledge, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, in 1760, it is beautiful; and let me tell you, the breakfasts are outstanding! You can eat in you room, outside on the porch, or in the dining-room and meet some interesting folks. We had a great... More

Elegant, stately Inn ideally located in historic district. Excellent service and staff. Select Registry. Great experience. Charleston is a great destination. Must see. Great weather in October. Bring camera and walking shoes.

The Governors House exceeded my expectations. I thought the location was good. We were about 2 minutes from East Bay Street, 1 block for King Street and a pedi cab ride from north of Calhoun Street. Great to be able to walk out the door and walk the entire Battery. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Storm (his real... More

We came here for a 2 day getaway to explore the city. We wanted to stay in a place that was unique and peaceful, and this place was perfect. The staff were wonderful, and the room was well kept and beautiful. The house cat was even nice, as several times he came up to us and allowed us to pet... More

We stayed in the Barbados suite on the lower level. The room was very large with a comfortable love seat at the foot of the bed. The washroom was great. It had a very large shower and a jetted tub. I especially liked the seating area on the lower level that seemed more private than the really large wrap around... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Governor's House Inn. The Inn is a beautiful property and we would stay here again without hesitation, but it could use an update of upholstery and paint. We stayed in a room with a large private veranda and a wonderful marble bath. The bath had a marble tub and a separate shower. The room... More

Dearest Guest, Thank you for all of the great compliments! SO SORRY you took a fall on the staircase, I had no idea. I am alerting front desk not to turn as many lights down at night and putting higher watt bulbs in the lights nearest the stairs so that no one else takes a spill. During our slower months... More

The staff, especially Angela and Storm, were fabulous! The inn is beautiful; however, it truly does disappoint with stained bedding and linens, fabric on stools, stopped up drains, etc., especially for the price! Breakfast was always fabulous, as were the other guests with whom we had the opportunity to dine and have evening wine and cheese. I cannot compliment the... More

Hello Dear Guest, It was so fun having you. So sorry you had these issues. We have gone through the linens that you speak of and corrected anything that may have appeared to be a stain. We have our furniture cleaned every 6 months so I am at this time arranging an earlier appointment. These are antiques and we do... More

Well, I went in June because I had never been to Charleston. Loved the city. I splurged on this bed and breakfast and was disappointed. The furnishings and finishes in my room just seemed worn (frayed sheets, towels) and the decor, dated (fake marble sink, peeling wall paper, ordinary toiletries, dusty porch furniture considering it was busy/busy, tiny t.v.). I... More

Very sorry for your disappointing stay. As far as the sheets and towels, we have since purchased a new bundle of sheets and never allow them to get to the point that they seem worn. As well as the towels. We are constantly ordering new as you can imagine the constant cleaning can put wear on them before their time.... More

This is one of the best B & B's we have stayed at. Charleston is great anyhow but Governor's house inn has such a great southern charm to it. Our room was on the top floor and had a great view of the back of the property. The food was amazing and the staff was very friendly.
