A historic money-pit struggling to provide upscale lodging that has a great location, nice view of the harbor and a friendly staff. Don't let the online images and nice Web page deceive you. The price does not equal the amenities.

My wife and I booked a two-night stay at this charming bed and breakfast as part of an anniversary trip. We arrived late and there was an envelope with our name on it which contained parking info and the keys. We had the Front Room (3rd floor). This room has a private bath but it's across the hall from the... More

We loved our stay at this lovely home. Warm and inviting, the Palmer Home is filled with interesting antiques and family memorabilia. Ashley, Angie and William were attentive and friendly, the homemade southern breakfasts were scrumptious and the afternoon wine service was the perfect way to relax after a day of sightseeing. Frances Palmer is an excellent hostess, who made... More

Some friends and I booked a weekend getaway at the Palmer House and we were extremely disappointed. As soon as we entered the front door we were overwhelmed with an intolerable musty odor, which was prevalent throughout the entire home. I noticed dust on everything in the house. We stayed in "the Front Room" located on the third floor. The... More

After reading the reviews on this site we felt like there were much more positives than negatives so my girlfriends and I decided this would be a nice place to stay. I suppose that one' mans trash really is another man's treasure because this place was a dump and a farce! You could clearly tell which furnishings were antiques and... More

We stayed one night in the Palmer Home as part of a weekend get a way. Very disappointing for the price we paid. Upon entering the home in the main foyer, experienced a strong, musky smell. Stairs contained loose and creaking boards. Our room, known as the Front Room, is on the third floor. No one to assist with luggage.... More

If you are a person who would like to take a step back into the past of lovely eccentric Charleston, SC, Stay Here. It is a very old house with character and sites that are not available to you, no matter how many antique stores you visit. You must remember that you are staying in the 2nd house from the... More

We were given a weekend stay at the Palmer home from some dear friends as an anniversary gift. We are native Charlestonians and truly were impressed with the décor and friendliness of the staff. Growing up in Charleston, we have a place in our heart for preservation and history. This home will really give you an understanding of Charleston's charm.... More

We had a celebratory birthday (2 night stay) at The Palmer Home in March 2015. It was wonderful. The view is spectacular and the owner is delightful! We had the King Room and it was beautifully decorated. The porch was a wonderful addition. We also enjoyed the owner's dog and cat. The cat seemed to take a liking to us... More

We stayed for three nights at the Palmer House. Had a wonderful stay. Our room was the king room on the third floor. Antique furnishings, lovely bedding, a beautiful fireplace in the room. We had a small shower only bathroom but hey when the house was built it didn't even have barrooms. We had a door from our room leading... More
