Central location, nice but choppy lobby, and our room was nice and large enough, but for this price it was a joke. No frills, no breakfast or parking included, we got mints 2 of 4 nights, the AC was deafening, the TV was a Philips circas 1978, we had a GE (GE??) clock radio-CD player, the matress featured a valley,... more
Response to Trip Advisor from Brad Dickerson; Hotel Manager: We greatly value the opinion of our guests and pride ourselves on taking immediate action when we fail to meet a guest’s expectations. We researched the service breakdowns described by Miff22 and discussed them with our staff. At Planters Inn, we are not used to hearing about such issues. We just...
This is an expensive historic hotel in a perfect location for exploring Charleston. The staff are wonderful and the food very good indeed. The room...well...even though we faced the courtyard, it was very noisy (what do you expect staying in a city center??) and the air conditioning a nightmare - kept us awake all night (or you switched it off... more
The Planters Inn lived up to the advertising. It is a small hotel that offers a top restaurant and friendly service. We loved the bottle of champagne that was waiting on us. more
My husband and I spend three nights at the Planters Inn. This was our first trip to Charleston and the hotel really made the stay complete. We first read about the Planters Inn in Travel and Leisure, but were disappointed to find some less that glowing reviews online. We kept our reservation and the hotel exceeded our expectations. We stayed... more
We recently stayed at the hotel for 3 nights; it was our first trip to Charleston. The Planters Inn is the type of hotel that is almost impervious to criticism. The lobby and rooms are impeccably decorated, and every staff member was efficient and genuinely pleased to help. Everyone also remembered our names and addressed us by name each time... more
I realize I'm a little late in sending this review in, but better late than never. My husband and I stayed at the Planter's Inn this past fall and we absolutely loved it. Our room was fabulous! It faced the market and we didn't notice any street noise at all. The decor in the room was exactly like the online... more
The facilities are beautiful, lovely wood floors and area rugs, with wonderful antiques in both the general areas as well as in the rooms. I also found its location central to anywhere one might want to walk. Best of all, however, is their staff. They are warm, helpful and knowledgeable. The reason for this last is obvious: the hotel manager,... more
Wonderful hotel, great location. The room was nice, very comfortable the only problem that I had was our room faced the street and starting at 6 am on Saturday the trash truck was out on the street for at least an hour which needless to say woke me up. The hotel staff is very courteous and helpful. The Peninsula Grill restaurant... more
Planters Inn is a great 5 star hotel. My girlfriend surprised me with a weekend getaway for my birthday. The hotel has a classic upscale southern style with a friendly staff and wonderful restaurant (Peninsula Grill) This a Relais & Châteaux - Luxury hotel, and I was satisfied, but not blown away. The lobby lounge was comfortable and had coffee... more
